The Word of God
The words of a person are the encapsulation of his thoughts and
the conductors of his spirit. To fellowship with a man's words
is to ultimately fellowship with his spirit. This is perhaps
most true with the Word of God. God's words are spirit and life.
They are perfect bearers of His thoughts, will, and power. From
God's words you can discern undeceived His character.
Consequently, to fellowship with His words is to court His
nature and power. His words are active and alive and they
transform. In fact, His Word is a constituent agent of our
salvation. I Pet. 1: 23. And, subsequently, as much relevant to
experiencing the living presence of Christ, for Christ's words
are God's words. These words are primarily and readily found in
the Bible, both direct and indirect words. Filling our hearts
with them fills our hearts with Christ's living presence. Below
are my categorization of the most important things to do with
the Word of God to experience Christ's living presence.
Read The Word
This furnishes your heart with God's power potentially and
furnishes the Spirit of God with ready understandable diction
with which to communicate with you.
Study The Word
This imparts unto you discernment and understanding. It helps
you to discern Christ's voice and leading when he talks and from
other patronizing and misleading voices.
Meditate On The Word
Turning the word over and over in your mind releases the power
latent it and puts you under its firm control. It is no mistake
the saying that you become what you contemplate.
Hear/Listen To The Word
It keeps it fresh and alive.
Speak The Word
Fill your speech and conversation with the word of God and so
mould your thinking with His. When you want to greet rather than
say "Good day" say "Grace be to you." When
you are suddenly hurt rather than exclaim for pain say
"Thank you Jesus."
Obey/Do The Word
Cultivate your heart to obedience and greater sensitivity, and
give expression to your new nature.
Whatever other things you are expected to do with the word are
effectively performed, subconsciously or unconsciously, by doing
the above.
