Spirit Filling
The next fundamental requirement to experiencing the living and
transforming presence of Christ is to be filled with the Spirit
of God also known as the Holy Spirit. This is an every moment,
every day and lifelong thing achievable and maintained only by
faith still. There is an initial experience of this that the
scriptures encourages us to believe is complementary to the new
birth experience (salvation). This initial filling usually
produces and is evidenced by the strange but blessed and
powerful physical phenomenon of speaking with other tongues.
Subsequent fillings may or may not be accompanied by physical
signs which, however, do not make them less powerful or
effective.
To be filled with the Spirit of God simply means to be taken
over, controlled, ruled, or to be possessed by the Spirit of
God. This is our power to living the life of Christ, whether in
spirit, word, manner, or power. There is absolutely nothing to
do to receive it other than to ask. To walk in the reality of it
you then must believe. You must believe that you receive it
every time you ask and act in the consciousness of it because
you always truly receive it when you ask. It matters not whether
there is a confirming physical experience or not. Over time, the
more you move in it by faith, you come to know it and even to
feel it, so much so that you readily know when it is waning. As
an advice, I counsel that it be requested every morning on
waking, every time you miss it, and whenever you feel wanting of
God's strength, especially strength to live Christianly; My rule
is: as often as you know you need it. When you lack confidence
ask, when you lack boldness ask, when you need direction ask,
when you are tempted ask, ask and never fail to ask. God never
gets tired. Luke 11: 9-13
However, one great responsibility lies with us in order to enjoy
and maintain the filling of the Spirit of God, this is to be
obedient. Refrain from presumptuous sin, stay in the light God
has given you where the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses
from all sin. John 1: 7. To be deliberately or presumptuously
transgressing is to be cultivating rebellion, it breaks
gradually even the strongest areas of obedience.
Be filled with the Spirit! Stay filled with the Spirit!
