One of the reasons that I made these pages was to get the word out to more people that shelter animals and other mixed breed animals make loving pets. None of my pets have a "pedigree," but all of them are beautiful, and great pets. I have had many people ask me what breed my cats and dogs are. I proudly tell them that they are mixed breeds. most of the time they don't belive me, becuase the general opinion is that mixed breeds can not be as good as purebreds. This site will prove that idea wrong. Keep in mind that purebreds were created by the mixing of different breeds to get a certain look so actually no breed is 'pure". If I was given the choice between a purebred and a mixed breed i would take the mixed breed. In my expiriance they are generally more level headed, and smarter too. They are less likely to suffer from hereditary health problems too. For more information check out Nutts About Mutts. If you really want a purebred, check out the shelters too. One fourth of the dogs in shelters are purebred. They are usually surrendered there becuase people buy them with out knowing the work involved in raising a puppy and the characteristics of that breed. Where ever you do decide to get a pet, make sure that you have researched the breed, or breeds in a mixed breed. Make sure that ther caracteristics of the breeds fit what you would like in a dog In other words,if you want a calm lap dog, don't get a border collie. |
