Ten years after the Battle of Naboo, the galaxy was on
the brink of war, and Obi-Wan Kenobi found himself
propelled along in the middle of it all. The Jedi Knight's
mission as a bodyguard soon turned in a different
direction, forcing Obi-Wan to become a diplomat, a spy
and a warrior on an enemy-controlled planet.

Soon after returning from Ansion, Obi-Wan and
Anakin were assigned to protect Senator Amidala, who
had become a target for a mysterious assassin on
Coruscant. Upon meeting Amidala in her Coruscant
residence, Obi-Wan began to realise Anakin's crush on
Padm which had formed a decade ago was muddling
his thoughts and priorities. The padawan wanted to actively seek out the assassin, but Obi-Wan told him they would obey the Council's orders and act as protectors, not instigators. However, there was no time for argument, as the assassin struck again, and Obi-Wan found himself in a wild chase through the skylanes of Coruscant. The Jedi eventually halted the assassin, but a toxic dart from another mystery figure silenced her.

Wanting to solve the growing mystery, Obi-Wan set out to identify the toxic dart while Anakin escorted Amidala back to Naboo. When he found no sucess with the analysis droids in the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan turned to his old friend, Dexter Jettster, who started the Jedi off on his search for the planet Kamino - where the dart had been made, according to Dex's analysis of the weapon's markings. The Temple Archives told Obi-Wan the planet did not exist, but Kenobi knew better than to rule out the judgement of his friend, and went to Master Yoda for help. Obi-Wan was soon on his way to Kamino's supposed location, though he had begun to worry about Anakin's ability to protect Amidala on Naboo.

Events took a surprising turn when Obi-Wan located Kamino. He learned the natives were creating a clone army for the Republic, based on the DNA template of Jango Fett - who, Obi-Wan learned, had killed the assassin back on Coruscant. Kenobi attempted to apprehend Fett, but a fight ensued and the bounty hunter escaped. Obi-Wan gave chase, and arrived at Geonosis. He snuck onto the planet, and investigated further. There, he found great factories churning out battle droids for Count Dooku's Seperatists. Dooku himself was on-planet, securing deals with various commerce guilds, and preparing for war. Trying to make sense of it all, Obi-Wan reported back to the Jedi, but was captured and inprisoned by the Seperatists. He hoped the Jedi had recieved his message.

His message had indeed reached Coruscant, but it was some time before their rescue party arrived on Geonosis. In the meantime, Anakin and Amidala staged their own rescue, but only ended up in an execution arena along with Obi-Wan for treason against the Confederacy. The three evaded death, and joined in the fight when Mace Windu's Jedi team launched its assault on the arena. Obi-Wan battled well, and was able to escape the arena when the Republic army he had uncovered saved the survivors. The Clone Wars began on Geonosis, but Obi-Wan had more important matters to attend to: Dooku was escaping. He and Anakin tracked him down to his secret hangar, where they fought the ex-Jedi. Dooku, a master swordsman, defeated them, and it was only thanks to Yoda that Obi-Wan and his padawan survived. Though wounded, Obi-Wan was able to return to Coruscant, where he reflected on the enormity of the crisis facing him. The galaxy was at war, and Obi-Wan knew he would have to carry out his duty as a keeper of the peace and fight for the Republic.
