A short-range pistol used for personal defense, the ELG-3a royal blaster was used by Naboo citizens, handmaidens and even the royal family in times of crisis.
Though not as powerful as the S-5 blaster pistol used by the Naboo Security Force, the royal blaster can, if aimed properly, be deadly nonetheless. The small design and smooth shell allows the royal blaster to be easily concealed. The streamlined blasters are manufactured in two designs; one has a medium-range barrel and a snap-action trigger, while the other is smaller, with a minimal barrel. These two designs are both easy to hide, as the Naboo only rarely need to use firepower to solve problems on their planet. As well as being used by the Naboo people, the ELG-3a pistols are also standard issue on Naboo Royal Starships and Cruisers. Handmaidens to the ruling monarch are given bodyguard training, and are taught how to use the royal pistol.
During her reign, Queen Amidala herself used a royal pistol when the Trade Federation invaded Naboo. She also had the smaller version concealed in a hidden compartment in her throne room. This extra feature helped her overcome the Neimoidian occupiers, and destroy her battle droid captors. |
