A variation of the Infantry Gunship, the Republic Cargo Gunship was responsible for air-lifting AT-TE's, speeder bikes and cargo into the thick of the Clone Wars.
Though the LAAT/c was larger than the LAAT/i Gunship, it featured fewer armaments due to its role as a transport. Instead of the LAAT/i's deck for troopers to stand on during flight, the LAAT/c had an open hold with two heavy-lift agrav drive arms that clamped onto the hull of an AT-TE, allowing it to be carried in the space behind the cockpit.
Numerous LAAT/c Gunships were deployed during the Battle of Geonosis to transport AT-TE walkers onto the battlefield. Though the AT-TE's were easy targets while being dropped into the warzone - as many were hit by Hailfire droid missiles - the LAAT/c's helped ensure victory for the Republic. |
