2003 ***** 143 mins.
This is, without a doubt, the best film to ever come out of both Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. This film is the perfect combination of the magic of Walt Disney and the raw power and energy of Jerry Bruckheimer. This is a truly fun film to watch. While it has the elements of a Disney film, it does not follow, exactly, the same structure as a Disney film. While it has the elements of a Jerry Bruckheimer film, it does not go to all of the extremes. The best of both worlds come together in this tale about a pirate (Johnny Depp) who wants to regain command of his ship, the Black Pearl. The current crew of the Black Pearl have a strange curse laid upon them that they are trying to lift. Only the governor's daughter (Keira Knightley) and William Turner (Orlando Bloom) have the power to remove the curse. Suspense, plot twists, and excitement abound in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: the greatest Walt Disney film, and the greatest Jerry Bruckheimer film.
Rated PG-13 for action/adventure violence.
