MONKEE-MEN MADNESS

PUT THE MONKEES IN THE HALL OF FAME!!!!!

SIGN PETITION

I am a Monkees fan who is trying to get the attention of the people responsible for the Rock-N-Roll Hall Of Fame! They refuse to induct the Monkees into the Hall of Fame! They claim that they are NOT a real band! I beg to differ on that one! Have you ever been to an actual MONKEES concert????? I have!!!! I've been to a few and let me tell you something Hall of Fame people...those MONKEES can really rock the crowd!!! The minute those lights go down and the music starts, you should hear the screaming going on -- my own included!!!!

They may not be together right now but even in their own solo shows, they still play those wonderful MONKEE tunes like "Last Train To Clarksville," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "Daydream Believer," "I'm Not Your Stepping Stone," and their biggest hit ever "I'm A Believer" (yeah RNRHOF people -- it stayed ON THE CHARTS FOR 9 WEEKS -- CHECK YOUR RECORDS) .... I don't care if this group WAS put together. These four guys brought to people like myself a lot of comfort, joy and believe it or not LAUGHTER when it was desparately needed.

In August 1997, my husband and I were expecting our first baby. We couldn't wait and were very excited. On August 22, 1997, The Monkees (Peter Tork, Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz -- Mike was not with them at the time) made an appearence on the NBC TODAY SHOW (r). I taped the show because I was overdue and I hadn't been feeling well. I knew that my baby could come at any time and I didn't want to miss that show. Turns out I didn't miss it but still set the VCR for their show. When they performed that day, I was so excited and I never took my eyes off the show until it was over. On Saturday night/early Sunday morning I finally went into labor with my baby. I couldn't wait. My husband and I were excited. But our excitement turned to tears because there were problems. Our baby had a bowel movement inside of me. She'd swallowed it and it lined her lungs. There is a technical term for it but I'm not very good at writing them out. To shorten this story, Lynnessa Rose was born on August 24, 1997 but passed away on August 25, 1997. She was buried that Wednesday and when I got home to an empty home I cried. Later that night to help ease me up, I popped in the tape from that Friday and watched The Monkees once again perform. It brightened my night and eased up that hard time. I had the Lord on my side as well but The Monkees brought a sense of peace to my heart. I knew that things were going to be okay. If that wasn't enough, I popped in some of the Monkees episodes and my husband and I sat watching and laughing along with the show. Again this was all at a time when I neede the laughter the most.

So you see HOF people, these four Monkees deserve their spot in the hall of fame. Their music is REAL MUSIC. I am not even from the 60s ... I was born in the 70s and became a Monkees fan in the 80s. I missed out on their 80s tours but as soon as they went back out on the road in the 90s my husband and I were at a couple of those shows -- and in the 2000s we were at a couple of those ones as well!!! The best times ever!!!!

These Monkees deserve the credit! Have you heard Pleasant Valley Sunday on the radio???? Do you ever hum along to or sing to Daydream Believer????? Well guess what HOF people, THAT'S THE MONKEES PLAYING ON THOSE 2 SONGS!!!! Think I'm kidding you???? Why don't you go read the back of their albums and find out????? THE MONKEES KNOW HOW TO PLAY INSTRUMENTS!!!! I think the real problem is people don't want to admit these guys were so good they beat out some of the groups of that time era (won't name them off either).

The point here is PETER TORK, DAVY JONES, MICKY DOLENZ and MICHAEL NESMITH deserve to be in that hall of fame like these others you are putting in there. My husband and I both sit and look at these groups you are putting in your HOF and thinking "Why??? They haven't even been out long enough to be inducted to such a thing!" You don't know real talent when you see it!

If it sounds like this fan is mad I am! I am tired of seeing them passed up year after year! Why don't you go sit and listen to Davy Jones sing? What about watching Peter Tork playing different instruments like several kinds of guitars -- oh and Peter plays a WONDERFUL banjo! It gets my toes tapping every time I hear it. Better yet, why not look at Mr. Micky Dolenz himself???? Micky was NOT originally a drummer in the 60s before The Monkees! He was a guitar player when the Monkees were formed. But they got him to play those drums. Not only did he play them but he sang and played at the same time and THAT TAKES TALENT!!! I have watched that man up close and in person a couple years back and Micky can really rock those drums! Michael Nesmith may not always be around these other 3 Monkees but Mike in his own way lead the way for video music! Mike, also, plays 12 string guitar and is awesome when he does it too; so why not take a listen to him sometime? These four Monkees deserve their spot in the HOF next to these other 60s artists you are placing in there. How many other 60s artists have their own theme song????

Let's sing it Monkee fans....

Here we come...walkin' down the street; We get the funniest looks from...everyone we meet! Hey, Hey we're the Monkee (fans)!

Oh and their famous Monkee walk --- try it sometime and watch others want to join in! I dare ya to do it!

Oh yeah .... and let's not forget that in the 80s I do believe they were playing to sold-out crowds of people??????? Wonder how many other artists of that time era can do that?????

Okay I'm finished venting now! I just feel that The Monkees deserve more credit than they get and I would love to see them rightfully get their spot in the Hall Of Fame where they belong!

TO THE MONKEES --- I may never actually get to meet and talk with you guys but you are wonderful, talented musicians! I hope you keep on rockin' 'cuz I'm gonna keep on listening!
