Phaco-emulsification Training
Diploma in Ophthalmic Technique :
Course approved by Director General of Health Services, Govt. of India
Vide Letter no. T-12019/98/90-Ophthal. Dated 15 September 1992.
(This approval is not for government employment purposes.)
Objectives :-
- To prepare student to assist the Eye specialist.
- To prescribe eyeball exercises.
- To enable students to estimate errors of refraction and prescribe glasses.
- To enable students to get self employed as opticians, optometrists etc.
- To enable student to maintain Ophthalmic Equipment.
Academic Session : -
- Commences on 1st November every year.
- Fulltime course of Three Year duration.
- The course is divided into 4 semesters (6 month each). Third year is devoted to clinical and practical work (Apprenticeship).
Admission & Eligibility Criteria : -
- The candidate should have passed class 12th or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology aggregating
45% marks. If the student has also passed in Mathematics besides the above subjects, preference will be given to such student.
- Candidate who have passed any other BBoard in Ophthalmic Techniques with 45% marks, are also eligible.
- Age : The candidate should have attaiined the age of 17 years on 1st November of the year of admission.
- Number of Candidates will not be lesss than 4 or more than 12 per year in any institute.
- Application will be invited in the moonth of Aug. - Sept. each year. Application Fees Rs. 200/- only.
- No fees for this course for the time being.
- Stipend : During the course the candiidate will be entitled for:
- 1st year Rs. 300/- per month.
- 2nd year Rs. 350/- per month.
- 3rd year Rs. 400/- per month.
Once admitted to any institution no transfer will be allowed.
