The
band DownLo has a saying that they use for toasts with the crowd and
with each other. “Come hell or high water.” That explains the effort
that they put into the band and their music. Come hell or high water
they are strong musically with a charismatic front man who has powerful
vocals. Keep your eyes and ears open for DownLo. I managed to sit and
have a visit with Howard and Clint, this is what they had to say: |

| Kore-
Howard, have you always wanted to be in a band or be a singer? Howard- I wasn’t really that interested in being in a band or anything to do with music. I thought I would be a lawyer. Kore- When did you catch the bug? Howard- When I was in high school a friend of mine kept telling me I sounded like Corey Glover from Living Colour. I had never heard thim so he showed mme a video and I was like “ that’s what I want to do” and have been doing it ever since. Kore- Do you get compared to Li from Sevendust? Howard- Yeah a lot, but who better to be compared to than the best. I’ve been compared to a lot of “African American” lead vocalists, even Hootie and the Blowfish. Kore- That doesn’t fit you at all!!! Kore- Clint how long have you been playing or in a band? Clint- For a long time now, the first band I was in was with another guy from a local band and we sucked. It didn’t last long. Then I finally found the right guys, the mix, and the sound. We just what makes DownLo. Kore- So you all have finally found the right group of guys. Clint- Hell yea, we all have a lot of different influences but we bring all that to the music and our live shows and as a local band your live show are what makes you. Howard- Theres a lot of good bands in the DFW area. We have to be at our best at all times and just make the crow have as much fun as possible. Kore- You were just on the Grego and Brian show on the Eagle 97.1. Howard- That was awesome, The first thing I did when I walked in, I had a backpack, I started pulling out shot glasses, a fifth of Jager, and a fifth of Crown, and we finished it all in like an hour. Clint- It was a lot of fun and it’s a real popular morning show. I met those guys at Ozfest and I didn’t even know they had a radio show. They are great and it was a lot of fun. Kore- Clint, they had your mom on “Ax my momma” Clint- Yea my moms a great sport, she’s like one of the guys so I knew she would be cool with it. DownLo- Thanx to Grego and Brian. It was kick ass and fun. Kore- Give me a quote that you feel sums you up. Howard- “Come hell or high water” Do what it takes. Clint- “Its all about workin your ass off” |
