Ewheehon   Nabcheh   Nabpheh   Chinyoung

The traditional wedding ceremony is consist of the Ewheehon, is when the discussion of a marriage, the Nabcheh, is when  a wedding date is determined , the Nabpheh, is when a gift is sent and the Chinyoung, is when they perform a wedding ceremony. These days they only perform the Chinyoung as the traditional wedding ceremony. The Chinyoung has begun from the Junanlyh. In the past wedding ceremony they used a live wild goose for the Junanlyh but they use a wooden wild goose these days. The Choilyh consists of the Junanlyh, the Gyubealyh and the Habgeun. The formality is that the bridegroom and the bride first meet each other and they promise to grow old together.

A wedding hall is prepared in courtyard or the main floor of bride's house. Byunghoong  is a folding screen which is set to the north. the Choilyh table is put in the center of the Choilyhchung. There is a pair of candle-sticks. One is red and the other is blue, two vases, one is decorated with the branch of the pine and the other one is decorated the branch of the bamboo, two hulled rice bowls and a pair of chicken on the table. These are separated to the north and south. They also prepare two washbasins, two towels and two wine tables.

The bridegroom stands to the east and the bride stands to the west. They stand face to face between a Choilye table. The bride bows twice to the bridegroom, bridegroom bows once to the bride as a return courtesy. The bride bows twice to the bridegroom again, the bridegroom also bows once to the bride again as a return courtesy. The bridegroom politely bows with hands in front of the bride and then they sit on their knees. a Sija fills a cup of wine and gives it to the bridegroom. The bridegroom drinks then spills a little of the wine on the ground and picks up an appetizer with his chopsticks. Then he puts it on the table which is served with the drinks.

The Sija fills a cup of wine to the bride. The bride drinks only a little of wine but doesn't pick up any appetizer served with wine. The Sija gives gourd dippers to the couple and fills gourd dippers with wine. Bridegroom and bride exchange their gourd dippers. The bridegroom gives the gourd dipper upwards and the bride gives the gourd dipper downwards. They drink the wine but don't pure it on the ground and pick up an appetizer served with drink their drinks. After finish this ceremony, They return to their original position. The ending of the Choilyh finishes the wedding ceremony.

The Choilyh

The Choilyh consists of the Junanlyh, the Gyubealyh and Habgeunlyh. Performing the wedding ceremony is often compared to performing the Choilye. The place they perform the wedding ceremony is called the Choilyhchung.

The Choilyechung
It is where to perform the wedding ceremony like a wedding hall now a days. This is called the Dealyhchung or the Junanchung. In general it is prepared in a courtyard  or a main floor of bride's house
A Byunghoong is a folding screen which is set to north in the Choilyhchung. The Choilyh table is put toward the center of the Choilyhchung. Each wine table for Habgeunlyh and each washbasin for washing hands are located in the east and west.

This is a  washbasin which is prepared for the bridegroom and the bride to wash their hands when they perform the Gyubealyh.

  The Choilyh table

It is called the Daelyh table. There is a pair of candle-sticks with a red candle and a blue candle, two vases, one is decorated with the branch of pine and the other one is decorated the branch of bamboo, two hulled rice bowls and a pair of chickens are wrapped separately in a red and blue cloth-wrappers on the Choilyh table. These are separated into the north and south.
Because the pine and the bamboo mean preserving chastity without fickleness like their characteristic and the chestnut and the jujube mean longevity and begetting sons, these have to be prepared on the Choilyh table. In some cases there are prepared beans, red-beans,  a wine-bottle and so on or prepared seasonal fruits that are special products of a country
