emotions in the RPG!
The Net Navi has so many uses, this page is to help you
understand more about the Net Navi and terminology.
The Net Navi has many programs to make it work. First of all is
the EXE program. The EXE program is the actual Net Navi program. There are other
programs. One is the PNG program. This program is a pixel by pixel drawing of
the Net Navi. There are several different types. For example, MegaMan1.PNG holds
the file of what his frame looks like (the one with the green lines) while
MegaMan2.PNG holds the clothing, face, gloves, boots, helmet, etc., and
MegaMan3.PNG holds what his insignia is going to be. Next is the DLL file. Mega
Man.DLL is where Mega Man's information is stored. This is a helper program
to sort all of the information. It tells what his voice sounds like, what colors
to use, what his weapons are, how to execute battle chip information, etc. When
a Navi's DLL file has been hacked, the Navi will change. Finally are the
Weapons.EXE program. This program allows the Navi to boot up the EXE program
into his DLL file. This way, he can change the DLL file himself to use a weapon.
The DLL file will automatically do this for a battle chip, but not for a weapon.
Then there's the Stream.DAT. This file reduces Mega Man to a blue beam of light.
This is how Navi's travel from area to area. The DAT file will compress Mega Man
so that he can travel faster to get to an area. Finally is the Mega Man.LOG file.
This file is like his brain. It stores information of what happened. For
Example, if you have a meeting tomorrow at 3 o'clock, the LOG file will store
that. When 3 o'clock rolls around, the Navi will tell you.
Operators have a role in the Net Navi's functions as well.
Without the operator, the Net Navi is virtually useless. The Operators role is
to guide the Navi along. Operators use Battle Chips, The Navi Customizer, and
the "Custom Technology" that is being made by Hikari Labs. Operators
help the Net Navi along when they're in need and help them in their battling.
They also set the Battle Routine, a program that the Operator create for the Net
Navi during battle.
Some Terminology:
Jack-In: This term is used when an operator Jack a Navi in using the Jack-In cord to a port. The Navi will then execute Stream.DAT and
"stream" over to an area the operator says.
Jack-Out: This term is used when an operator wants to
jack out a Navi. The Navi will execute Stream.DAT once more and go back inside
the PET.
Log Out: This term is used when a Net Navi can't jack out.
The PET will save all the files (EXE, DAT, LOG, DLL, etc.). Then the Navi will
compress into the words Log Out and then the words disappear. Once the PET saves
the files, the operator take out the plug while the "Log Out" words
appear. Two seconds later, the PET will restart and load up the Navi's EXE file.
Net Battle: This is a term when 2 or more Net Navi's fight
each other.
Plug-In: See Jack-In
Plug-Out: See Jack-Out.
Execute: A phrase some Operators use when jacking in a
Net Navi. Also, a term that the Net Navi uses when he executes a program.
Transmit: A phrase some Operators use when jacking in a
Net Navi
Battle Routine: A routine that the Operator sets
before a battle. Also, the Net Navi's "Battle Mask" (which serves as
not to injure the face with physical attacks or any residue attacks) forms.
