Greetings...
Though the doorway is small, step deeply inward.

I have been in the Arts for 26 years now, it has been a dedicated trip, often plagued by setbacks, injury and unseemingly impossible plateaus. It has also been my lifes passion.  Filled with profound moments, immense pleasure, and unparalleled joy.  It is my path, my life, my continual search for physical and mental enlightenment.  I dedicate this page to the arts...

My current style is called Ra Shin Ryu, in which I hold a 3rd Dan rank. I also hold Dan Rankings in Shudokan Karate Do, and FMA. I have trained in I Li Chi Gung Fu under sifu Corey Pillar, Aikido under Sensei Scott Krempel, and Kajukenbo under Sensei Romel Barber.  Ra Shin Ryu is a progressive self defense system created by Sensei David Ray 5th Dan who has been in the Martial Arts for 35 plus years.  Mr. Ray has studied extensively in ITF Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Kickboxing, and Philipino Martial Arts.  His dedication to the furthering of the arts as a whole, and the teaching of children is unparalleled here in Las Vegas.
I have studied under Mr. Ray for 14 years and teach his system in conjunction with my traditional Japanese Karate Shudokan and the other systems I have dedicated myself to.
Ra Shin Ryu is a modern evolving stlye which incorporates the arts of hard style Karate (Japanese & Korean), Western Boxing, Eskrima & Arnis, and elements of Aikido, I Li Chi Gung Fu, and Judo.  Mr. Ray and I have blended these major styles together based upon our own personal training in these systems over the years.  Ra Shin Ryu is a system that uses a closing of ranges to affect a formidible counter attack.  It relies heavily on a loose, fluid footwork with quick strikes to vital points in the trapping range.  Often a throw or lock will be used to immobilize an attacker.  The system also uses Angling from the Philipino Martial systems.  Along with the Eskrima sticks, which are the primary weapon of choice, the Jo, Bo, Cane, Sword, Knife, and Kubotan are taught.

At the beginning level a strong base is built on basics in the traditional way!  After careful and steady progression, and a solid knowledge of the basics, the other elements of the system are added.  We train our students with intense, and disciplined work.  Rank is earned in the traditional way, and not easily awarded.  A strong blend of Eastern phiosophy, hard work, discipline and determination form this highly modern martial art.
