Waza (Techniques)

Munatsuki Kotegaeshi
Translation: Punch to abdomen, "Wrist turn-out" technique
Initial Position:

Uke stands in homni position with left foot forward.
Nage stands in homni position with left foot forward.

Attack: Uke takes a step forward with right foot and uses own right hand to punch nage's abdomen.
Technique: Nage performs 180 degree tenkan pivot around left foot and places own left hand on uke's forearm, so that nage and uke face the same direction. Uke then simultaneously slides own left hand towards uke's right hand until gripping the top of uke's fist, and extends uke in direction of attack. Nage extends uke until uke's balance is broken, leads uke in a circle to the right until nage is in a stable stance. Nage waits for uke to catch up, places own right palm over the back of uke's hand and performs kotegaeshi. As uke falls, nage uses own left hand to pull up on uke's right elbow, spinning uke circularly 180 degrees, and performs cradle pin.
ADS: "Immobilization No. 7 Against Attack No. 15", p. 223. Illustrated technique does not show spin or pin; see p. 216 for similar spin (but where nage moves instead of moving uke), and p. 217 for pin.
Ushiro ryoudedori Kokyunage
Translation: Elbow lock-hold from behind, "Breath throw" technique
Initial Position:

Uke stands square behind nage.
Nage stands square.

Attack: Uke reaches around nage with both arms, then moves hands between nage's arms and his body, locking nage's arms at the elbow.
Technique: Nage bows forward deeply, pulling own left arm forward and down, free of uke, and lets the back of own left hand touch the ground. Nage then spins 180 degrees on right foot (until standing next to uke), places own left hand on the side of uke's lower face, and perfoms kokyunage to the rear 45 degree angle.
ADS: "Projection No. 1 Against Attack No. 8", p. 239. ADS refers to attack as "ushiro hiji tori", and shows attack variation on p. 56. We bow more deeply than illustrated, and sweep hand against ground before spin.
Shomenuchi Kokyunage
Translation: Straight strike to top of head, "Breath throw" technique
Initial Position:

Uke stands in homni position with left foot forward.
Nage stands in homni position with left foot forward.

Attack: Uke takes a step forward with right foot and uses own right hand to strike straight down on the top center of nage's head, cutting nage in half.
Technique: Nage maintains position and performs Shomen Undo, parrying uke's right arm with own right arm, follows uke's movement down, and then, as uke bounces back up, places own left hand on the side of uke's lower face and spins uke to the right and perfoms kokyunage to the rear 45 degree angle.
ADS: "Projection No. 1 Against Attack No. 13", p. 241. We perform the more gentle final throw, allowing uke to keep moving until final fall.
Yokomenuchi tenkan Shihonage (Irimi / Tenkan)
Translation: Side strike to head attack, Step back and "Four-corner throw" technique
Initial Position:

Uke stands in homni position with left foot forward.
Nage stands in homni position with left foot forward.

Attack: Uke steps forward with right foot, and uses right hand to circularly strike nage's head from the side.
Technique: Nage steps back with left foot, turns slightly to the left, and performs Shomen Undo, parrying uke's right forearm with both hands. Nage simultaneously draws back own right foot, slides own hands down to uke's wrist and extends uke slightly forward, holding uke's hand in front and to the right of own body, level with the floor. For "irimi" version, nage maintains hand position, takes small right step forward, then small left step forward, and then spins to the right, drawing uke's hand straight out and around to the right until it touches uke's right shoulder, and then pulls straight down until uke falls. For "tenkan" version, nage maintains hand position, takes small right step forward, then big left step forward, simultaneously turning to the right 180 degrees, until standing next to uke. Nage then spins to the right, drawing uke's hand straight out and around to the right until it touches uke's right shoulder, and then pulls straight down until uke falls.
ADS: "Immobilization No. 6 Against Attack No. 14", p. 214. The illustrated initial movement is different.
Katadori Sankyo (Irimi / Tenkan)
Translation: Same side shoulder grab attack, Third Pin technique
Initial Position:

Uke stands in homni position with left foot forward.
Nage stands in homni position with left foot forward.

Attack: Uke steps forward with right foot, and uses right hand to grab nage's left shoulder lapel.
Technique: Nage steps back to blend with attack, uses right hand to brush uke's right hand down, and simultaneously uses right hand to grab in nikkyo grip, then swings uke's arm back up and uses left hand to control right elbow. Nage then steps forward with left foot as he steps next to uke, simultaneously pushing uke's elbow forward and down so that uke is bowed forward, slides own left hand down to uke's hand for sankyo grip and moves right hand to control fingers, and then uses sankyo to bring uke straight up. Nage then performs whipping motion with hands, taking uke back and then forward and down. For "irimi", nage moves forward as uke goes down, and performs cradle pin. For "tenkan", nage steps back with right foot, places own right hand on the inside of uke's elbow as a guide, takes uke down in a spiral, and performs cradle pin.
ADS: "Immobilization No. 3 Against Attack No. 5", p. 194.
