A Gun in the Ghetto: 9MM The much talked about, and greatly controversial, 9MM has released a long awaited new album, A Gun in the Ghetto. Widely known in the rap industry for his violent and explicit lyrics, he is back in full force with as much booka and ta-ta-tat as his last two albums. Being away for so long has given him time to recuperate from the many court cases and promotional tours hes been busy with, and even more time to work on this album that we have all been attentively waiting for. The 20 track filled album features songs on life in the ghetto and the extraordinary relationship he has with weapons.
With the never-ending media constantly on his case regarding the message he sends to his listeners and the kind of example it sets, its amazing that he has found a loop-hole big enough to be able to get away with yet another up roaring album. Rumours have even been flying about that he was sentenced for a secret period of time and managed to write some of his songs in lock down! And funnily enough, these reports have been suspiciously connected to a certain track on this album called, Life in a Cage.
Despite the previously deep and emotional albums referring to beefy disputes and blinging lifestyle, this album has taken a surprisingly sentimental turn. During the past year he has developed a relationship with the infamously talented Lady Luck and has dedicated a few tracks to her. One particular track has lingering first few lines in a chorus in the song, "Boo Beloved": I had fallen, broken, lost faith- then you came, You gave me heart and Ive never been the same".
With his new album he is prospected to go back and take the number one spot that he has held with his previous releases. He claims in a recent interview with one of our darn-lucky Hot Nu Flava representatives, With my heavyweight combination of Beef, Bling and B****** (*ahem* a term used for a dog), you cant go wrong with albums like mine, especially mine. I am the master of this combination and no one can touch someone who is on the higher level that I represent. Well no one will be daring to step in his way!
9MMs A Gun in the Ghetto is on UK release by July 20th of this year.
HottNuFlava Interviews: Illusions
THIS week, HottNuFlava stumbled across someone who seemed to be R&B singer Illusionz aka Joe Playa, knocking at our office door. A sorrowful and soulful voice says to our HNF reporter "Can I be in the next feature of your website? All my girlfriends left me so I've got nothing to do. I need the press. Will you help me...? " "Of course Joe.. we'll help you.. again.. step into our office.." And so, it begins...
HNF: Joe - why so glum? I: My lawyer said I'm can't talk about that matter with any of the media so sorry I can't help you there. HNF: ohhhkay then. Lets start from scratch then. What inspired you to be the artist you are today? I: Well I first started singing when I was 11. It was usually to songs I'd hear on the radio. Once, I sang to my girlfriend and i brought her to tears. I thought "yesss... I'm in there!" HNF: Wow that must've been quite a performance. What song did you sing? I: Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing HNF: Riiight. Moving on - Which songs are you set to release from your new album? I: The first one's coming out on the 14th of this month, called "I Lost You" Its about losing something you never even knew you had, a kind of thing that when its gone, you feel like there's a big hole inside you. Its about realising what you have... what I had... what - HNF: So tell us - whats the overall feel of your album? I: It's a slowie, this one. A lot things in my life inspired me to write the songs on my album, and i may get questions regarding the state of my poligamous love life, the reason why affairs keep coming and going, but they're just events that are part of me. They have given me the inspiration to write what I feel, and this album is an outlet of some of my deepest emotions. HNF: So quite a transition from your previous album "Life At My Best". Why's that? I: My girlfriends broke up with me. I don't wish to talk about it. HNF: Okay.. lets change the pace of this interview. Here, answer some of our quickfire questions. Ready? I: Shoot. HNF: Hobbies? I: Writing my songs, listening to my songs, performing my songs to girls- HNF: Other talents? I: Spinning a basketball on my finger. HNF: Shoe size? I: 11 HNF: Clothing style? I: Baggy stuff. From my wardrobe. Doesn't have to be clean. Its my look. HNF: Where are you from? I: Thailand HNF: Tell us a secret I: I see dead people.. HNF: Lucky Number I: anything more than 1 HNF: First Love? I: was too good for me. HNF: Next concert? I: Winter this year HNF: Are you available love wise? I: Always. But dont tell my girlfriends that. HNF: Do you wear make up? I: I like to look my buff. Nothing wrong with that HNF: How do you write your songs? I: Life experiences HNF: What do you want from life? I: To be happy, and not hurt or annoy people with what I do HNF: And finally - Tupac? I: Alive. And living in Philippines
Well that concludes the Illusionz interview. As weird (and depressing) as the interview was, you can't help but wonder what goes through this celebrity's head. Click on his picture to view his album in hott.nu.flava's lyrical file.
