Shadow Mask
When threatened the SD Vampire can immediately and
literally take on a shadow form impervious to most forms of attack. This
is a highly reflexive response to a Shadow Demon vampire's being threatened
unexpectedly. It is so automatic that it takes practice to not immediately
respond in this fashion to sudden threatening stimuli. No physical attacks,
blood magick or mental powers which requires eye contact is capable of
harming you on the other hand you cannot affect your environment or opponents
in these fashions either. You are capable of moving from one patch of shadow
to another and merging with them undetected till coming out of ShadowMask
but the shadow must be within your line of sight or 50 feet whichever is
closer.
Shade's Spy
You can take the essence of a local shadow and create
a temporary shadow being which can be used to spy on others or merely to
scout out a locale. They are basically snake like in form and insubstantial
to the touch... a hand etc. will pass right thru them like a normal shadow
and can merge with surrounding shadows imperceptibly. They can go anywhere
the SD Vampire has been their self or where there is someone that the SD
Vampire knows in the vicinity. While activated they maintain a constant
mental contact with the SD Vampire which created them sending back info
on what they perceive. Walls and enchantments mean nothing to them. They cannot physically or otherwise attack someone
but on the other hand can only be dispelled by holy light aimed directly
at them with the express knowledge of what they are and purpose to do so.
Dark Terror
You can inspire a sudden irrational fear of shadows
in a victim with this power. They will suddenly see every shadow in the
surrounds as hostile and hiding powerful opponents beyond their ability
to defend against. Any attempt on their part to use shadow powers like
obtenebration will immediately worsen their condition to the max causing
mortals to become gibbering idiots and Vampires or Demons etc to be paralyzed
with fear unable to force their self to respond to the real opponent in
front of them until or unless the shadows have been dealt with. Be aware
though, that this power will not affect doubles or simulacrum of the creature
it is aimed at.
Intermediate
Voice of Darkness
This is a step up on the previous power of Dark Terror.
With Voice of Darkness not only does your opponent see the shadows as terrifying
entities which they must fight but the shadows seem to now be speaking
to them their worst fears and darkest secrets, threatening not only in
the physical sense but also as to having these fears and secrets used against
the victim with deadly effect. The victim is compelled to keep turning
to "face off" with these shadowy threats in self-defense and will totally
ignore the SD Vampire due to this delusion. The Expert Elder level SD Vampire
will even be able to focus exactly where the most threatening shadows seem
to be coming from and thus turn the victim on anyone within the SD Vampire's
eyesight friend or foe.
Shadow Walker
With this power the SD Vampire is capable of phasing
into an insubstantial form made of shadowy substance which is extremely
malleable and can either stay in it or go from solid to shadow form in
turn without having to recast the power as they can draw from any available
source of shadow to maintain or retake this state. Unlike Shadow Mask this
power is totally voluntary and you may affect your surroundings physically
and with held weapons as well as powers which do not require eye contact
to work. This or any other shadow body, shadowy form etc. used by a Shadow
Demon Vampire is NOT like a regular shadow and cannot be disbursed merely
with the shining of a light. You may be as solid or insubstantial as you
wish in this form even to different parts of the body being capable of
turned to shadow substance while the rest stays more substantial when this
power is used by the Expert Elder SD Vampire.
Shadow Claws
The SD Vampire is able to grow immensely devastating
shadow claws encasing or in place of normal feral claws with this power.
Not only do they do the same damage that feral claws do but they keep the
wounds from healing til the opponent has had a chance to replenish whatever
powers them be it blood, souls etc, lost since once the claws bite into
the flesh of the opponent of the SD Vampire the flesh is not only split
but turned into insubstantial shadow where struck. The claws are good for
five strikes against the opponent at which time they shall turn into normal
though still deadly feral claws. These Shadow Claws are able to break thru
ANY armor without fail if all five strikes land on the same area of the
defense target within a radius of the claw's reach in the initial strike.
These claws can also be used to spread other powers and poisons thru the
whole body of an opponent which also carry along the insubstantial and
un-healable shadowy substance. An Expert Elder level SD Vampire may grow
these claws up to 3 feet long.
Advanced
Shades of Creation
The SD Vampire is able to create shadow forms that
operate much like their solid counterparts out of the available shadows
around him. The most basic use of this would be for smaller items like
a dagger, hammer, club etc. and so forth. Weapons created using this power
are good for 4 blows or other items for 4 uses before dissolving back into
the shade they used to be. Their effect will be the same as any regular
weapon or item and may be used much in the same way in combos with other
powers as Shadow Claws though they do not cause the un-healable shadow
effect. The larger and more substantially strong the created object is
the more powerful and old the SD Vampire has to be up to an object 2 stories
high or 300 pounds in weight. The Expert Elder SD Vampire is able to use
this power to create an exact duplicate of their self within the size limitations
and which is capable of using Neonate level powers and to physically attack
in any combo of these attributes to four blows.
Embrace of Night
Embrace of Night is an effective trap of darkness
and the fears it brings to the mind. When cast, the shadows present in
the room surge to all congregate around the victim til there is formed
an inescapable trap of shadow walls as real and substantial in the perceptions
of the one it is being cast upon as any solid structure. The victim cannot
see out but the SD Vampire is able to see in and thus make clear strikes
while remaining hidden as to the direction such blows are coming. The Expert
Elder SD Vampire may add to the effect by implanting in the mind of his
victim that the world outside of the shadow cage has fallen away so that
there is nothing but a howling abyss between the victim and the SD Vampire...
the fact that there is no way the victim should be able to tell that this
is the case since not able to see the outside of the walls is totally overlooked
by the one this level is cast upon.
Final Embrace
With this power the same walls cast by Embrace of
Night become very aggressive and very deadly on their own. Final Embrace
is meant to be used in combo with or in a follow-up to a non-countered
Embrace of Night. With this additional power added the shadow walls start
to slowly close around the victim who still believes there is nothing but
a howling abyss outside of them. The walls do not so much crush as they
drain away the willpower to resist what is happening and they slowly but
surely replace the physical nature of the victim with insubstantial shadow.
No armor is proof against the shadowy replacement and this power causes
the victim to become steadily more and more insubstantial as the closing
walls leach from the victim's physical reality to become more solid and
real itself till at the end.. nothing is left of the physical body of the
victim after dying at the hand of the SD Vampire or the walls itself.
Expert
Dark Whirlwind
At this Expert level of Nitebane the SD Vampire is
transformed into a whirling dervish of destruction, moving faster than
any other type of power and adds shadow power to the equation as the shadows
around the SD Vampire also join in at his casting of Dark Whirlwind to
swirl in a tornado of deception at the same rate of velocity around the
victim, adding to the SD Vampire's opponent's confusion since they tend
to alternately mirror the SD Vampire's movements and shape while the next
moment they are directly opposite in movement and amorphous in shape and
not all of the shadows act the same at the same time in this. Multiple
simultaneous strikes with a weapon are possible now descending in a deadly
rain of up to three simultaneous blows at one time on even radically different
areas of the body of the victim. Dark Whirlwind is in effect for one turn
and up to a total of ten blows and can be used in combination with any
other sort of power such as Shadow Claws, Shadow Walker or Shades of Creation,
etc.
Shadow Leach
The beauty of this power is in it's one step casting
as the level does the rest of the work while the SD Vampire may simply
phase into ShadowWalking or physically further their attack while the victim
deals with what is happening to them... which requires all of their attention
till it is countered for if ignored the final death is the only possible
outcome. The SD Vampire casts Shadow Leach by spewing from his mouth a
river of darkness; shadow taking its ultimate most evil and destructive
form which immediately surges towards the one it is being cast upon with
unerring aim for any bodily orifices or wounds and is capable of sliding
into the tiniest cracks in any armor. Once entering the body the Shadow
Leach so summoned will immediately begin to work on the inside of the victim
not only on a physical level but also on the WP level as well. Causing
the physical to become ever more insubstantial and the body of the victim
to dissolve from the inside out and basically implode till nothing is left
while at the same time the will of the victim is drained and the desire
to fight the SD Vampire's attacks or the imminent destruction of it's body
fades more and more. The ultimate limit this is carried to will find the
Shadow Leach returning once the body of the victim is destroyed with his
soul brought back to the SD Vampire where it is immediately absorbed back
via the mouth as it once had emerged.
