People just don't "enlist" into the KoA.
There is no sign-up sheet, nor any recruitment posters. A person is watched and
then invited to join privately. The person who invites them to join will speak
to their commanders even before speaking to the person in question about
selecting them. If the Command cannot find any reason to deny this person
acceptance into the Petitioner spot then they will be invited. The person then
becomes the Petitioner's "Mentor". The Mentor acts as the teacher,
judge and sometimes when needed, executioner. The Petitioner will be rewarded
for loyalty and put to death for disobedience.
The
Petitioner is then recreated as a Minion (See the Minions section for more
information on these). And from then they are trained in the ways of the
Knighthood. As the knight advances from Petitioner to Supplicant can they start
thinking of which Order they wish to devote themselves to.
The knighthood does fall
from one mystical "family" line. As thus, once brought into the knighthood and
once you have selected your order, an "embrace" shall occur. This follows the
normal embrace experiences of draining the person to the point of death, but
this is where it changes. Once you have drained the person, you must then stand
above them, opening their mouth with your hands you must then vomit blood back
into them, along with a "dark matter" of the demon, bringing them fully into the
Knighthood.
