| ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze
the attitudes and behaviors of Thai female adolescents towards
the feminine image of Japanese male singers as well as to find
the factors influencing their attitudes and behaviors. The subject
included 10 female samplings aged from 15-22 years old selected
from both in Bangkok and other provinces of Thailand. The method
used was the Purposive Sample which means that the samplings
were selected according to their appropriateness within the
topic’s purpose. Instruments included observation and interview.
The results show that Thai female adolescents had positive
attitudes towards the feminine image of Japanese male singers
and had lots of activities concerning their favorite singers.
However, only seven among ten liked both feminine image and
presentation of the singers while three of them liked only the
image and did not like the presentation. Activities relating
to their favorite feminine singers are, for example, addictions
to the internet, watching Japanese TV variety shows, concert
and music videos, buying CDs or any other products about their
singers, having parties amongst fans; with the last activity
being the reading of fan fiction. The influencing factors can
be divided into two main parts which are peer influence and
media influence. The study found that the interviewees were
also interested in feminine male singers from other countries
such as Korea and Thailand but still regarded Japanese male
singers as their highest priority.
