Dallas County Checklist - Page 2 This checklist is published by the Dallas County Audubon Society, and was compiled by Warren M. Pulich, February, 1990. There have been some recent taxonomic changes since this checklist was published. "Solitary Vireo" has split into Blue-headed, Cassin's, and Plumbeous Vireos. In Dallas County, only Blue-headed occurs. "Rufous-sided Towhee" has been split into Eastern and Spotted Towhees. Both Spotted and Eastern Towhees are common Dallas County, but I find that Spotted is more numerous. "Northern Oriole" has been split into Baltimore and Bullock's Oriole. Baltimore is common during migration and a rare nester, but a Bullock's is a rare find. Also, Black-capped Vireo is listed as an 'uncommon breeder,' but unfortunately they have disappeared from this county due to loss of suitable nesting habitat. House Finch is excluded from the main list as an accidental, but in recent years they have become common year round and nest regularly. White-winged Dove is listed as having only one or two records, but sightings of this species are becoming increasingly common, and pretty soon they may be listed as common.
