Clans
What is an online game without clans? These are groups of players
under one name. The way clans usually work in Battlefield Vietnam
are, when you join a clan, they ask you to put the clan's name or an
abbreviation of the name. Some of the more serious clans even
have ranks. This is how ranks usually work in clans, however the
clan you find may be more detailed. (What I mean by this is
instead of going straight from Private to Corporal, you may go to
Private First Class instead. The best thing to do is ask the clan
leader about the rank system if you'd like to join. However, keep in
mind these ranks tend to mean nothing, and the point of the game
is to have fun and make friends. Whoops, nearly forgot a darn
good stress reliever >:)
The reason I picked this background is because of the tank crew and
infantry working together. Clans basically define teamwork. Popular
servers with lots of people tend to have less teamwork than ones
with organized squads, so this is another good reason to consider
joining a clan.
Yet another reason for joining clans is it shows you have some
experience. Most of the larger clans ask for a demonstration of your
shooting skills before they let you in, so therefore when you join a
server people know you've been around for a bit and know the game
fairly well.

As I mentioned before, the main point of clans is to make friends.
For example, say you joined a clan with a name of a specific movie
you like. Chances are the other clan members enjoy discussing
this topic.
