Corey and I were among the few who kept a journal all through the mission trip. Between wanting to have an accurate account for our presentation to Trinity Lutheran in Lexington (they were key in helping us raise the funds for us to go on the mission) and wanting to have an accurate, heartfelt account for my own use... I took a very detailed journal. I will warn you now - this is more than just events and observations from the Haiti mission trip. This is a serious, deep writing with my very personal thoughts, feelings, and reflections on everything I saw, did, experienced and even thought. (Some of these thoughts are good or even profound, some of them definitely show the lumps and flaws in my personality and character of that period in my life.) At one time I would not have included my entire due to the highly personal nature - but since these things were very much a part of my Haiti experience I have included them for your edification and God's glory. After all, by recording my own personal struggles you can see God's hand at work in my life all the more… especially considering how much God has taught me and how much change and growth has happened since June 2001.
Consider this your warning: my journal is neither short nor light reading. The copy I printed from my computer (no changes in content at all) was thirteen pages long counting the personnel page (without pictures). If you still wish to read my journal, I have links to each day below. If you only wish to read one day, click that link. If you wish to go through all of them, start with the "background" page, read through that page and click the "next" link when you're done. Each page has a "next" link for when you are done with that page... or if you wish to go back a page it will have a "back" link. At the page for June 19 (or the page for 2003 reflections, should you wish to go that far) you can either click the "home" link to return to the main site or "my personal journal" to return to this page.
