Myself

I am a junior this year at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Nashville is a pretty cool place to live, but since I don't have access to a car, my night life is a bit of a bore. However, I hear if you know some people in the music biz (and I do not necessarily mean country music) then there are some awesome places to go and party. Unfortunately, I have not met anyone in the music industry yet. The worst thing about living here is probably the fact that everything closes so early. There aren't any 24 hour restaurants around campus, so if you get the munchies at 4:00AM, it's just too darn bad.

I originally hail from Joplin, Missouri, a medium sized town in the southwest corner of the state. Both of my parents live there as does my cat, Pickle.

I am half Filipino, so every other summer, my family takes a trip to the Philippines to visit my mother's side of the family which includes Lolo, Aunt Flora and Uncle Dante, Aunt Gloria and Uncle Renato, and Aunt Lina and Uncle Omeng. My cousins include Boy, Eden, Elaine, May, Irene, Aldrin, Nelson, and Collin. I have many, many 2nd and 3rd cousins, but I'll spare you the whole list. My mother visited this year, but I couldn't go because I was in school (sniff).

Two summers ago my mother and I spent some time in San Fransisco and I got to see Alcatraz and the Palacio de Bellas Artes (not sure if I spelled that right!) where Sean Connery met his daughter in the movie "The Rock." That movie had always been one of my favorites, so I was really excited about going there and sitting on the bench in the middle of the main structure right on the spot that Sean had graced. So I get there, right? I go all that way expecting to fulfill one of my dreams. I walk to the middle of the complex and guess what? NO BENCH!! Yes, that's right. There is NO BENCH in the middle of the Palacio. It was just brought in for the scene. I was utterly disappointed.

My volleyball team at spec. Go team!!!

Spectacular, a sports camp, was another summertime activity for me my sophomore and junior years of high school. I played on the Weezer's soccer team, a volleyball team, and I was signed up for tennis, but no one ever showed up to play against us. (We got 3rd place in tennis cause everyone kept forfeiting!!!) This is a picture of my volleyball team after we placed 3rd.

Other noteworthy trips I've made recently include traveling to Washington DC twice last year. The first time was in November for the National Young Leaders Conference and the second time was to compete in the We the People Constitution team competition. Both trips were a blast and I took many pictures. In this picture I am with my NYLC group. I am second from the right on the bottom row.

Me striking a gypsy pose at the Renaissance Festival

One trip that I really enjoy making each year is the journey to Kansas City, Missouri in the fall for the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. In this picture, I am assuming a proud gypsy stance and screaming "hah!!" Other noteworthy characters I have met include Robin Hood (he was HOT =), Little John, the Red Cardinal and a peasant girl who made me memorize and deliver a poem to her beloved musketeer:

Your Eyes are the sweetest temptation
For when I look within
I forget the meaning of sin
And pray for eternal damnation

Steven Tyler with Yours Truly =)

This last summer my parents and I went to England! We saw all the usual sites including the Tower Bridge, the Palace, the parks, etc. I also had the good fortune to see The Comedy of Errors at Master Shakespeare's Globe as well as the Rose, the filming site for Shakespeare in Love. My timing was such that I got to see the last of the 25th anniversary performances of The Rocky Horror Show at Her Majesty's Theatre, which I enjoyed thoroughly (Jason Donovan is sooo hot!!) We stayed at the Marlybone Apartments about a block away from Portablella Street Market (aka "Notting Hill"). Other cool things included a trip to Trafalgar Square to feed the birds, a short stop at the wonderful Warwick Castle, and the time we thought we spotted John Malcovich on the Bakerloo line. Probably the most memorable experience was walking down the sidewalk in front of our apartment and coming face to face with Steven Tyler!!!!!! AAAAgggh!! This was definately the best vacation I've had to date. =)
