The Menagerie
Well, at some point in their life, almost every little girl falls in love with horses. Some grow out of it. Unfortunately I didn't, probably because the love of horses runs in my blood. Due to this cruel hereditary tendency towards animals of the equine persuasion, I'm doomed to spend my days longing for one until I finally get one. Or two. Or three. Or twenty-seven. To ease this longing I present to you my page of horses, both real and imaginary, in the hope that you, too, enjoy their beauty.
These two pictures I got off the net. They're of a breed called Azteca. I fell in love with the bottom one first because I love the colour.

Ian Millar and the mighty Big Ben
This is the beautiful and talented Big Ben, who has sadly passed on. He was my  horse hero for many years, while he  competed as Ian Millar's #1 horse on the show jumping circuit.
Northern Dancer, Canada's pride and joy
Above is the amazing Northern Dancer, another Canadian hero. He was a magnificent racer but is known most for his talented offspring.
Ruffian, the filly who wouldn't lose
While she's not a Canadian hero, the courageous filly known as Ruffian has a special place in my heart, both for her unerring talent and her tragic end.
Oh, look, it's Daisy. Y'all. (note sarcastic tone)
This is Daisy Duke and a horse. It's the only picture I have of her that doesn't have the boys in it and if you click on it, it will take you to my Dukes of Hazzard main page.
Vin. Sigh.
Ok, here's a picture of one of those magnificent horses on The Magnificent Seven. And ditto for the clicking thing like above.
What a fine looking animal. The horse ain't bad either.
This fine piece of horse flesh is being ridden by Ardeth Bay AKA Oded Fehr. Why is he here do you ask? Well, click him and find out.
And what would life be without a little Lord of the Rings? The Three Hunters, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, with Gandalf the White (you might not be able to see the dwarf, but he's there!). The horses are Hasufel, Arod and Shadowfax. Don't they make a pretty picture? Hitch a ride on over to the Melda Mountains!
a prettier sight is hard to find than three beautiful horses and a gorgeous elf
More Horses
In 2002, the Federation Equestre Internationale, the governing body for horse sports worldwide, held the World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. For the first time, the sport of reining was recognized as a medal sport. Reining is like the dressage of the west, a sport requiring complete and uninterupted communication between horse and rider. It's a spectacular sport, with quick stops, quick turns and fast riding, and it's the only sport ridden in a western saddle that is recognized internationally (except of course the rodeo sports)
Custom Chrome, slide on in!
This is Custom Chrome, owned by Quarter Mount Farms. He's the top ranked sire in the National Reining Association by his own earnings. And he's doing a sliding stop, spraying dirt all over the place. Cool.
Hollywood Dun It, Three Million Dollar sire
Topsail Cody
Hollywood Dun It is ranked number one in offspring earnings. His sons and daughters have earned over 3 million dollars in NRHA competition. He's owned by the McQuay Ranch.
This big, beautiful bad boy is Topsail Cody, a million dollar sire in offspring earnings. His most famous son is Topsail Whiz, a two million dollar sire. Sadly, Topsail Cody passed away recently. He was owned by the Boyle Ranch.
