WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:
Achieving a vision, either for an
individual or an organization, may be conceived of
as starting to live a new story of life. I designed
this workshop to create dialogues on story-making
through use of relevant concepts and simulations
from the emerging paradigms. From the viewpoint of
intercultural communication, story-making
ingredients include cast (subjects & objects), time
(past, present & future) and stage (digital & analog
space). The dramatic frame may sway among the 1st
floor (Newtonian-Cartesian), 2nd floor (postmodern),
and 3rd floor (unity consciousness) view of the
world. The key concepts involved will be paradigm
shift, harmony and creativity. Despite the
description above, the approach will not be too
philosophical or academic but rather experiential
and applicable to daily life, coaching,
facilitation, and leadership. The workshop is meant
for those minds and hearts not yet married firmly
with any one paradigm, today’s common sense paradigm
particularly. The idea is to be playful. Examples of
experiential learning will include edge walk on the
1st, 2nd and 3rd floors, impro analog-digital
role-plays, Bohmian group temperature, meditative
embodiment experiment and the like. The base
language will be Japanese this time. But there will
be lots of English words used. Participants can use
English if they wish.
WORKSHOP LEADER:
The presenter is Professor of SIIC,
Portland, Oregon (10 years) and Professor Emeritus,
Aoyama Gakuin U. He was Chairperson, SIETAR Japan
for two office terms around 1990.
How to get there?:
i-Land Tower can be accessed directly
from Nishi-Shinjuku Station on the Marunouchi Line
by following the underground path. From JR Shinjuku
Station it is approximately a 10-minute walk. Once
you get to the building, select an elevator that
stops on the 4th floor. After you get off on the 4th
floor, walk to the right until you get to the last
door on your left.

ワークショップ内容/
個人でも組織でも、ビジョン達成とは新しい物語の創造を意味することと考えて、いろいろなコンセプトとシミュレーションを提案し、対話を築きたいと思ってこのワークショップをデザインしました。生きた物語とは、自分の現実世界が実際にまたはヴァーチュアルに動くことであり、そこで生れるドラマを生きることだとすれば、現実構成のパラダイムが持つインパクトは絶大です。
異文化コミュニケーションの視点からは、物語を構成する材料としてキャスト（主体、客体）、時間（過去、現在、未来）、舞台（デジタル空間、アナログ空間）を取り上げます。ドラマのフレームは、１階（ニュートン・デカルトの世界）、２階（ポストモダン）、３階（意識の世界unity
consciousness）の間を彷徨うこととなります。全体のキーワードは、パラダイム・シフト、ハーモニーと創造性です。
アプローチは過度に哲学的・学術的ではなく、日常生活、コーチング、ファシリテーション、リーダシップ、マネジメントといった方向で少しでも役に立つことを目指しています。一つのパラダイムと結婚していない心の若い方がよりエンジョイして下さるワークショップではないかと推測しています。ことばを変えれば、一緒に遊びましょうってことです。
アクティヴィティとしては、１階・２階・３階のエッジ・ウォークといった体験的な知覚学習、アナログ・デジタルの即興ロールプレイ、小グループのボーミアン対話の温度感覚、瞑想とエンボディメントの実験、などを考えています。今回は日本語ベースとなりますが、英語フレーズがかなり混じる可能性は高いです。また参加される方が英語を使って下さっても結構です。

頂きもの：フルブライト留学、インディアナ大学よりMBA＋Ph.D.、アメリカ・カナダの5大学で10年の教歴を含む15年の学究経験、青山学院大学26年の教歴と名誉教授、異文化コミュニケーション研究所（SIIC,
Portland）での今年で11年目の教歴、4年の国連CTCコンサルタント歴、JICAおよび企業研修数百回、有斐閣から出版した『異文化インターフェイス管理』（1985）で第一回大平正芳記念賞および経営科学文献賞、International
SIETAR (NGO, Washington, D.C.) から1995 Outstanding
Senior Interculturalist Award for
Achievement賞、10冊ばかりの本を書いた骨の痛み、など。
