Updated 12/07/01 by Karen
Phil Jackson guided the Lakers to a 14-1 record for their first 15 games, which is the best start in franchise history. The Lakers are currently 9-0 on their home floor. They currently rank third in the NBA in scoring average (101.4) and field-goal percentage (.467).
HI CRISPIN, BYE PENBERTHY
Updated 11/11/01 by Stephen
Crispin or Penberthy? The Lakers would have a difficult time choosing only one of them. However the Lakers chose one and it was Joesph Crispin. Lakers activited Joe Crispin from the injury list and waived Mike Penberthy. Last year, Penberthy had 1.7 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.7 apg. However, Crispin averaged 6.4 points, about 1 rebound, and 2 assists all in the preseason. Let's see how Crispin can play on Sunday's game against Orlando (3-3).
SHAW RE-SIGNS FOR THE LAKERS
Updated 11/04/01 by Karen
On Halloween, Brian Shaw was waived because the Lakers tried to avoid paying the luxury tax. On November 4th, Shaw was officially back in the Lakers roster. However, he was not scheduled to play the Lakers/Jazz game. Shaquille O'Neal was glad to see Shaw back in the Lakers' line-up. Instead of going to another team and getting paid more, Shaw decides to stay with the Lakers for a $1 million contract. "Some guys play for money, some play for championships," said the Lakers' head coach, Phil Jackson.
