Hey there Key Clubbers!!! The RTC was such a huge success. I would like to thank all the people that went: Alysia, Diana, Victor, Caitlin, Chris, Aaron, Latish, Maria, Luong, Phung, Six, Melissa, Katrina, and Maricris. The whole weekend was so much fun. Just ask any of the people mentioned above, they will tell you how fun and rewarding RTC was. On Saturday, everyone met at Gunderson at 10 A.M. and drove up to the Santa Cruz mountains. We got a little side-tracked. The route that we were supposed to take was blocked so we had to take an alternate route. As you can see, our drivers, (Alysias father, Dianas father, and our advisor Greg Landers) had to find a new route for us to take. Theres Melissa and Katrina! Theres LaTish! Anyways, we arrived at the camp around 12:00; we thought we were late but apparently everyone was kind of late, so they pushed back the starting time. We got registered, received our Mountain Madness t-shirts, room assignments (girls were separated from the boys), group letters, and also some people purchased the sexy new Division 12 East T-Shirts (they look really cool). After everyone got situated in their cabins, we all went to the Band Shell (an auditorium type of place) where started RTC and also got to hear me sing the national anthem. Theres me singing the national anthem!!! Thanks to all the people who complemented on me :-D After the opening ceremony, we all were assigned group letters (K E Y C L U B I N G) and we split with our groups where we did ice-breakers and created a skit for the bonfire later that night. We then went to the baseball field where we did group competitions. Look at all those Key Clubbers from different divisions. The following divisions were at RTC: 2 (Kiwis), 17/34(Penguins), 8(8-Ballers), 32 (wallabies), 43(Butterflies), 12 East(Superherosus!!!),12 West(Troopers), and 26 (Beavers) We then did our service project where me made cards for either the homeless, sick children or to battered women. We did some cool games at the baseball field like the Orange transfer, Scavenger hunt, and the one depicted above, the gummy bear search. Each letter group had to find 10 gummy bears that were mixed in spaghetti sauce. (It wasnt really tastytrust me, I had to do it). We then met up again where we ate dinner as one group. Our spirit was so pumped. We did the Whats your school? cheer. We got lots of compliments from people saying that Gunderson was really spirited. Go us! We also had a special guest speaker who gave us an inspirational lecture on how Key Club has changed his life and how to better your community. He was a past District Governor which is basically the president of the whole Cali-Nev-Ha district. Very prestigious; hes also a former Division 12 native. Go us once again!!! Theres us at dinner. The food was edible, thats all I got to say. After dinner we headed up this dark trail towards the bonfire. It was there we had to perform our skits. For a quick rundown on all the skits here is what each group basically talked about: K They were known as the Potassiums. Go, Bananas! Go-Go Bananas!!! After the skit we had the dance, and after the dance we were sent back to our cabins where it was lights out. Look at those tired Gunderson high school students, they were having too much fun dancing that it made them exhausted The next day was a time for work. We all got to do separate workshops. The first hour consisted of these workshops: President and Vise-President, Secretaries, Treasurers, Bulletin Editor/Publicity, DP/ Projects, Key Club 101, and District convention workshops. Then the next hour, we had the following: Membership Motivation, Contests & Awards, Fundraising, Public Speaking, Club building, Ice-Breakers/Spirit, Time Management, and Running for Office/ LTG wannabe. After the workshops, we went to our DCM and finally after that, we went home. Theres Six and Katrina, hugging a tree. Theres Hillary (Ltg. For Division 43), Myla (ltg. For Division 12 West), and Daniel (our LTG.). Everyone received a name tag. If a person lost it, and somebody found it and turned it in, there was a penalty for person who lost it. As shown above, the Lieutenant governor of Division 12 West had to sizzle like Bacon. The Piedmont boys had to do push-ups while singing the song, Ill make love to you," as a punishment for losing their name tags Some of the poor unfortunate people that had to suffer this punishment were: Chris Lequang, Aaron Nool, Maria Chavez, Aleczandr Six, and Phung Nguyen. Aww...look at that racoon. They like to go into rooms and eat your food. They're like rats with fuzzy, striped tails. I have over a hundered pictures, not all of them can be posted on the site. If you want to see some more, just ask me. As you can tell, our weekend was really busy, but at the same time, it was super fun. For those of you who didnt go, you missed out on a good experience. We all met a lot of new people from around the northern California. So guys, if you want to have this much fun, please try to sign up for events like Fall Rally North and District/International Convention. Youd have so much fun. Thanks for all the Key Clubbers that went. You all are great. | ||||||||||
