QUANTUM CREEK --  Part Fifteen

Joey was now standing in front of Sam as his dream began.  In reference to what Abby had said, Joey asked, "Know what, huh?"
Sam noticed that Abby was giving him a neck rub and blowing in his ear.  Joey was standing in front of him with her arms crossed and with an irate look on her face.
Answering Joey's question, Abby said, "Dawson doesn't want you to know that he and I were going to make out on his bed, that's all.  Well, maybe that's not ALL we were going to do.  I did want to woo the wonder boy into the darkside.  I wanted to find out first-hand if Dawson could have any other talents other than filmmaking."
"Yeah right," Joey said, not believing her.  In her most venomous tone, Joey asked, "What would someone who is a highly respected, super-intelligent quantum physicist want with someone like you, Abby?"
A bad-girl smile crossed her face as she offered innocently, "My belly button?"
Sam shook Abby off and got up to look out the window.  As part of the dream, it was nighttime inside, but daytime outside the house.  Sam saw Devon sitting on the lawn furniture exactly the same way she had in the rehearsal scene shot outside Dawson's house.

Devon looked up at Sam and said, "I thought it was video night."
Jen Lindley was standing next to Devon and asked, "Do you want some of my cookies, Dawson, or are you going to stick with english muffins?"
Devon looked at Jen and asked, "Isn't eating cookies a little, oh, mundane for someone from the big city?"
Abby stuck her head out the window and said to Devon, "We still have to rehearse those scenes!  I'd like to go over them as soon as possible!"
Still looking irate, Joey said, "Who is that outside with Jen?"
"I don't know," Sam said, not remembering Devon's name as part of the dream.  "I'm still waiting to leap-out.  Where's Al now that I need him?"
The Imaging Chamber door opened and Pacey Witter showed up next to Sam in one of Al's loud outfits, a cigar in his mouth, and a hand-link in hand.
Pacey puffed on the cigar and asked, "Waiting to leap-out, Sam?  What are you?  A bullfrog?"
Everyone heard Pacey and laughed at this.  In the dream, Devon became Joey and was now inside the room with Sam, Pacey, and Abby.
"Let's go rehearse," Abby said to Devon as they started to leave the room.
"Wait," Sam said.  "Rehearse for what?  We finished filming already."
"The Dawson's Creek episode 'His Leading Lady', you did," Abby said.
Before leaving the room with Abby, Devon added, "'Creek Daze', we didn't.  And you still have to save me in order to leap-out."
Sam awoke and tried to piece together why he had not leaped-out yet, but fell asleep again before he was able to complete the puzzle.

James Van Der Beek stood up and stretched.  It was another long night in the Waiting Room for him.  James was still trying to figure out the whole situation, still confused.  Al had informed him yesterday about what had happened, the fact that Rachael was safe.  James did not feel any better though, since he still needed answers.
"Hey, Gooshie," James called out.  "Are you there yet?  Is there enough hot water for the shower?  I've been here for days and I really need to shave."  He felt the facial stubble on his face.  Or more accurately, on Dr. Beckett's face.
The Waiting Room door opened and Al entered.  "Good morning, kid.  It's a good thing this room was designed with a shower and a rest room right around the corner, huh?  You can shave and shower in a minute.  Right now, there's something that's more important.  Dr. Beckett has not leaped-out yet, so we can't get you back home."
"You said before that Rachael was supposed to be in some sort of accident that would take her life, but you said she made it through the day yesterday without incident," James said.  "Why am I not back where I am supposed to be yet?"
"We haven't figured that out yet," Al said.  "Ziggy still says Rachael will not survive whatever accident she is supposed to have while she's on the set, but Dr. Beckett has finished shooting all your scenes, so we haven't figured out why Ziggy still says Rachael has a fatal accident."
"Finished all my scenes?  You mean, this is Saturday morning?"
"Yeah, James," Al replied.  "Didn't you know that?  Does that have some kind of significance?"
"That swiss cheese memory thing you said I have kind of threw me off as to what day it was," James responded.
Al said, "Your planner said the episode was to finish filming Friday."
"No, that isn't right," James corrected.  "Don't you see?  We usually shoot on Saturdays too.  Kevin Williamson gave me Saturday off.  Everyone else is still on the set!  If the director is filming in the correct shooting sequence, then he is now filming a few scenes for Dawson's movie that were not part of the script Dr. Beckett was filming.  There is your answer right there.  Rachael is going to have her accidnet while they film her 'Creek Daze' scenes that are going to be part of  future episodes!"
Al realized now what was wrong all along.  Rachael was going to have her accident before filming was completed, just as Ziggy had predicted!  Al and Sam had not considered the fact that SAM'S last day on the set would not be everyone else's last day also.
Al said, "Thank, kid.  Hopefully, I can get to Dr. Beckett in time and we can save Rachael after all."

Kerr Smith had a smile on his face.  Joshua Jackson had told him what to do the night before and everything was going according to plan.  The box was in place, the letter was delivered, and no one suspected a thing.
Rachael Leigh Cook had just returned from make-up, and Monica Keena had not returned yet from wardrobe.  Kerr Smith was watching from several yards away.  Rachael was talking to the director when Monica Keena arrived.  It was the third scene out of five that was to be filmed that Saturday and all was running smoothly up to that point.  The scene was filmed by the creek.  This scene was to be shown in future episodes as if it were scenes from Dawson's movie.  Rachael and Monica joked around a bit, but managed to nail the scene in only a few takes.
