QUANTUM CREEK -- Part Fourteen The final scene to be filmed that Friday was the episode's last scene. Sam figured that it was going to be a long day's shoot and it was. Even though it was a long day, Sam had a lot of fun filming all the scenes that day. For scene thirty-six, Devon compliments Dawson, then Joey and Dawson come to an understanding. Joshua Jackson approached Sam before the scene started and said, "Hey, I guess we can't play any practical jokes on Rachael today. I heard her tell Katie that she's leaving right after the completion of her scenes." Ziggy was right about Rachael being okay after today's shoot, Sam thought. After filming the final scene, Sam made sure that both Rachael and Joshua Jackson were all right. Since they both left the set without mishap, Sam wondered why he did not leap out yet. Puzzled, Sam returned to James' apartment and put James' duffel bag on the couch. Sam brought back with him a few items from James' trailer and was going to look through them later. Maybe it might help Sam figure out why he was still there. Rachael was all right, Joshua was already home by now and safe. Sam had just completed his last day on the set. That meant either something was wrong with Ziggy's predictions that he was there to save Rachael, or there was something else that Sam was supposed to do so he could leap-out. Sam was hoping Al would show up soon so he could find out what Ziggy had to say about why he had not leaped yet, but he had not seen Al since he had a very brief talk with him at lunchtime. "Hey, Sam," Al said, finally showing up an hour after Sam returned from work. Sam was sitting in the kitchen heating up a cup of tea in the microwave. "Where have you been? I haven't seen you since lunch," Sam said sounding urgent. "Rachael and Josh left the set all right today and, as you can see on James' planner, the weekend is free and clear. As you can tell, I haven't leaped yet." "I noticed," said Al in a serious tone. "Well, Ziggy did say that Rachael and Josh would be all right today, and the script does not at any time put Rachael's life in danger as you said before, so Gooshie and I have been checking Ziggy's programming for any type of computer virus all this time and we still came up with nothing. We were hoping that you might have an idea." "There must be something we missed," Sam said. "Al, I want you to run through all of Ziggy's predictions again. There must be something there. First, check on Rachael and Joshua and make sure they are fine. I brought back James' things from his trailer and I want to check the recent listings in his journal in case I missed something. Give me an update in the next two hours, if you can, please." "If not sooner," Al said as he left to carry out Sam's instructions. Sam went through everything that had been in the duffel bag which he had brought back from James' trailer. After tossing the script for the episode that was just finished onto the kitchen table, he still could not find a clue that would help him. Add to that, Al returned in two hours without any new info. Sam had let the phone messages on James' answering machine accumulate since his leap-in, but he figured they might contain a clue, so he listened to all of them. There was only messages from James' family and friends, but none of them contained any clues that would help. Thoroughly frustrated now, Sam thought he would call Rachael Leigh Cook since she had given him her number at breakfast. He also wanted to find out why she was still in town since Josh said she was going to leave after she finished her last scene. "Hello?" "Um, hi, Rachael. It's, ah, it's James Van Der Beek," Sam said, almost telling her his real name instead. "Hi, how are you?" "Good," Sam replied. "I won't waste your time. I'll get right to the reason I called. I was wondering if, ah, if you wouldn't mind joining me in seeing a movie tomorrow night. We can go to dinner first and catch whatever movie you want to see afterward." Rachael asked, "You mean, we could have dinner at 'The Deluxe', your old hang-out?" "Yeah, if you want," Sam said, not knowing where the place was that she just mentioned. "Good. That'll be fun, James," Rachael said. "I trust your judgment. If you have a newspaper, look through it and choose a movie, okay?" "All right," Sam said, remembering that he had brought in the newspaper before entering James' apartment. "I'll meet you outside 'The Deluxe' tomorrow night at eight o'clock. Is that all right with you?" "Fine, my schedule should be clear by then," Rachael said. "Thanks for inviting me." "Thanks for agreeing to go with me," Sam said sweetly. "By the way, I thought you would have gone back to Hollywood by now." "No," Rachael said. "I was going to leave right after all my scenes were completed, but I wanted to spend some more time here in Wilmington, so I rescheduled my flight. I leave Monday morning. Anyway, I'll see you tomorrow night?" "Absolutely," Sam said. "Have a good night." "No, YOU have a good night," Rachael said. "I will. Bye, Rachael." "See you later," Rachael replied before hanging up the phone. Sam retrieved the paper and looked through the movie section. Suddenly, he realized that he probably would not get a chance to go out the next night with Rachael since he should leap-out before then, so he wrote a note on James' planner about meeting Rachael outside "The Deluxe" for dinner and a movie. He also wrote a note and placed it on the answering machine for James to listen to all his messages. James' phone messages may not have held a clue for Sam, but they definitely would be important to James.

Sam's dream of Abby with Dawson >>

While watching his second episode of "Dawson's Creek" that night, Sam fell asleep. In the scene he was watching before falling asleep, Abby Morgan was inside Dawson's bedroom trying to spy on Jen Lindley and the fisherman she had "stolen" from Abby. Dawson had asked Abby why she was in his room, and Abby talked with him a little before giving Dawson a neck rub. "You're so tense, Dawson. Mmmm. You smell good, Dawson," Abby said with her face next to his, flirting with him as only Abby Morgan could. Dawson shook her off slightly and said," No offense, Abby, but this isn't gonna happen." "Why? Joey doesn't have to know," Abby responded. Sam fell asleep at this point and continued the scene in the vision of a dream.
