QUANTUM CREEK --  Part Thirteen

"Thank you, Katie," said Sam, relieved.
"You know I was just kidding, guys.  My jelly bellies are your jelly bellies.  Just save some for me next time, that's all," Katie said.
"That's the least we can do," Sam said.
"Like we wouldn't save some for the hottest brunette this side of Jennifer Love Hewitt," Kerr kidded.
That got a laugh from everyone and it made Katie blush.
"Guys, stop it," she said, turning away.
Jason added, "Good thing 'E! Entertainment Television' isn't here to catch this.  They would have loved having you blush on camera, Katie."
"Everyone's here," the director shouted.  "Let's get to it, people!"
The scene was shot quickly since the director did not trust the clouds in the sky and wanted to film the scene before any rain started to fall.

David Semel wanted extra footage and as much of it that he could get in case it started to rain again.  This footage was to chronicle the first day's shoot of Dawson's movie and to show that Joey was more than just a little annoyed at Devon following her around and copying every move she made.
The director welcomed any ideas the cast and the crew had.  To everyone's surprise, the director actually listened and used some of their ideas.  The rain never fell and the director was able to pack in as much footage as the schedule permitted.
Toward the end of this shooting session, James' publicist went over to Sam and asked, "James, do you feel like a quick autograph session?  These extras have been waiting all day to greet you and the cast.  Are you willing to give it a go?"
"Um, autographs?  Ah...  sure, I guess," Sam managed to say.
"I'll get everyone I can from the cast and we'll see if we can't have the signing inside the school, just in case it really does start to rain.  Wait here, okay?  I'll talk to the rest of the cast and send them in too.  We'll see how it goes," James' publicist said.
Sam began to get nervous.  Greeting all those strangers and not knowing if he would be able to sign James' name with authenticity made Sam very nervous.  Someone could have proof that he really was not James Van Der Beek this time.  If anyone compared James' real signature with what Sam was going to sign, things could go from bad to worse very quickly.
Out of the cast, Kerr Smith, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Sam were there.  Monica Keena, Michelle Williams, and Meredith Monroe were the only ones absent.  Jason Behr was there only for the last ten minutes of the autograph session.
The first person in the line for autographs made a bee-line for Sam even though he was seated in the middle of the cast group.
"Oh, hi!  I love you, Dawson," the teenaged blonde girl with braces began to rattle off.  "I think you are soooo hot!  I have a bunch of questions:  What is Katie Holmes really like?  What was it like to room with Pacey during the first season?  What was the name of your new movie again?"
"Whoa!  Wait a second," Sam said as he picked up one of the photos of James in front of him and began to sign it.  "What's your name, sweetie?"
"Samantha," the girl said.  "But everyone calls me Sam."
Sam looked at the photo he was signing.  He noticed that instead of signing James' name, Sam had actually signed his own first name.  It was fortunate for Sam that the young lady's name was also Sam, so he was able to cover up his mistake by writing "TO Sam" without anyone noticing.  The rest of the autograph session went by without anyone realizing Sam was not, in fact,  James Van Der Beek.

Joey yelling at Dawson >>
Sam was to film scene twenty-six next.  This was the scene in which Joey yells at Dawson for exposing personal details of their relationship during the filming of Dawson's movie.  This is also the scene where Dawson finally admits he has not yet gotten over Joey.
While standing in the set of one of the classrooms with Katie Holmes, Sam noticed that Katie suddenly got a look of hopelessness on her face.  Sam wondered what brought that on until he looked over his shoulder and saw Joshua Jackson peeking around the corner with a huge, devilish grin on his face.
"Oh no," Katie said.  "Not again."
"Geez," Josh said in a mocking tone.  "Another serious scene?  You know what it's time for, Katie."  Turning so that his back was now facing Sam and Katie, Joshua said with a bad french accent, "It's time again for 'Captain Skippy' to show his ugly face!"
"And I'm not looking this time," Katie said.
Sam had no idea what was going on, but he would find out soon.
"Come on, Katie," Josh continued.  "I only did it once this whole week.  You love it and you know it."
"I told you, I'm not looking this time," Katie insisted.
Joshua's face got a devilish grin on it again and then he proceeded to drop his pants and moon Katie.  "And I'm going to stay this way until you DO look," Josh said, looking at Katie upside-down.
Katie tried to control herself, but she felt the need to look creep up on her and she just HAD to look.  When she did, she burst out laughing!
"Enough already," the director said.  "Come on, we've got a pivotal scene to shoot."
Joshua pulled his pants back up, took a bow, and exited without saying a word.  He was satisfied with a job well-done.
For rehearsal and the first take, Katie could not wipe the smile off her face.  For the second take, Katie got the scene right, but then Sam broke up with laughter.  Finally, everything went by perfectly and the scene was completed.
Afterward, Katie said to Sam, "Thanks for not mooning me too.  You'd think Joshua would get tired of doing that by now, but he loves to keep that sight gag running."
Sam nodded at Katie, noting that Josh seemed to be the class clown member of the cast.
"And we love him for it," Katie then added.  "Tell David I went to my trailer to get something.  I'll be back in a couple of minutes."
"Sure, Katie," Sam said as he prepared himself to film the next scene of the day.  "I'll see you on the set."
