QUANTUM CREEK --  Part Twelve

"Sure, Katie," Kerr replied.  He tried to lighten up the mood by making a bad joke.  "Damn good jelly bellies though, huh?"
"Yeah, especially when they're not yours," Katie said and shook her head, taking back the last three jelly bellies in Kerr's hand.  Katie paused and stared at Kerr.  Then she smiled at him and let him know she was just joking.

Scene A-twenty-three was next.  In the scene, Chris and Devon do not fully understand the scene they are filming and Dawson has to explain Wade's agony to Chris, and Sammy's anger to Devon.
In rehearsal for the scene, Sam said to Devon, "It's agony.  Complete, excruciating agony."
Suddenly, Sam felt a poke in the stomach again, just like the one Katie Holmes had given him yesterday morning.
"Agony like that I don't need, Katie.  I'm trying to rehearse here," Sam said to his suspected assailant.
"It's not Katie, loverboy," an unrecognized female voice said.  "It's your favorite Capeside bad-girl."
Sam turned and recognized who had poked him, but mistakenly called her by her character's name. "Oh.  Hello, Abby."
"Yes, 'Dawson'.  It's 'Abby Morgan'."  Monica Keena, with her bad-girl sad eyes and a look that could seduce the Pope, asked, "Did you dream about me again last night?"
Oops, Sam thought.  Sam made a mental note to try to remember which names are actor's names and which are character's names.
"Van Der Beek wishes he did," Jason Behr interjected.  "Good morning, Monica."

"Monica, how are you this morning?" Katke Holmes asked as she came over to greet Monica.
"All right," the director said.  "We're on a tight schedule today.  Monica, say hello to everyone so we can get some work done on time for once."
Monica smiled.  "Good morning to you too, David.  You seem crankier than you've ever been."
"Do you know 'Snow White' over here?" Jason asked Monica and pointed at Rachael Leigh Cook.
"Yeah," Monica replied.  "We filmed 'Strike!' together.  Isn't that right, Rachael?"
"Uh huh.  Good morning, 'Tinka'," Rachael greeted, calling Monica by her character's name from "Strike!"
"They cast Rachael as Devon," Jason informed.
"I think we will be filming some scenes together again, Monica," Rachael said.
"Oh cool!  Good to see you again, Rachael.  Say, if David Semel ever gets on your nerves, just get him talking about the time he was directing over at 'Beverly Hills 90210'."
"Yeah, that sometimes works," the director admitted.
"Okay.  I'll remember that.  Thanks," Rachael said with a grin.
"Don't get David started now," Monica said.  "You probably have a lot of work to do.  Michelle and I are going to take a long lunch break."  Before she and Michelle Williams turned to leave, Monica added, "I know Meredith's around somewhere.  Someone tell her that I went to lunch and then went antique shopping with Michelle again and I'll talk to her on my next day back.  Bye, everyone!"
Sam wondered what Rachael meant by "filming some scenes together" with Monica.  Sam knew the entire script by heart, and Rachael and Monica did not have any scenes together at all.  In fact, Monica's character, Abby Morgan, was not even supposed to appear in the episode they were filming at all.  Abby's scene had been omitted earlier and there was no reason for Monica to be there on the set this week.  This gave Sam something to think about while they were completing the scene.  The filming of the scene went by fairly quickly and everyone broke for lunch.

Scene twenty-five was the first scene to be filmed once everyone returned from lunch.  Sam half-expected to see Monica Keena and Michelle Williams pop back in at any time but they never showed up.  This scene was shot outside the high school.  It was the scene in which Chris and Devon act out the scene in Dawson's movie in which Chris' character confronts Devon's character about the fact she kissed someone else.
Kerr Smith and Jason Behr were the last two to return from lunch.  At the same time, Katie Holmes was returning from make-up.  Katie walked over to Kerr and Jason.
"Hi, Katie," Kerr said.  "How was lunch?"
"Good," she replied to Kerr.  "Did you have the same old lunch again, C.B.?"
     Sam asked, "What's 'C.B.'?"
Kerr smiled and said, "Have you forgotten already?  It stands for 'clam breath'.  And yes, Katie.  You know I love my clams just as much as you love your jelly bellies."
"Mmmm.  Jelly bellies, yum," Katie said, rubbing her belly.
     Jason asked, "Got any left?"
"Noooo," Katie replied.  "Kerr ate the last ones I had."
"It wasn't just me.  James swiped a whole bunch when you weren't looking," Kerr joked.
Sam was unprepared for this and mumbled a response, "I...  ah, that is, um..."
Katie said, "You forget what James gave me for my last birthday.  He is always welcome to have all the jelly bellies he wants."
