Play began at 1 pm after a hot dog BBQ hosted by Trevor Braiden. 8 competitors braved the heat in a double-elimination tourney that was played under new for 2006 rules including the 'switch ends at 7 points' rule.
The first few matches were battles of epic proportions, seeing lead changes and strong defensive play. Siobhan and Bob were sent to the losers bracket after an 11-9 loss to Lindsey and Mike even though Lindsey was unaware of her victory. In the follow-up match Jamie and Kevin painfully beat Trevor and Carrie after a miscount throw away by Trevor. However, you could sense in the air that Trevor and Carrie would be back. Riding consistent play from Trevor and Carrie's 'all I like to shoot is pipes' throwing, the team battled through the losers bracket to make it to the final. Their march was almost stopped by Lindsey and Mike in the semi-finals after a win was called and then called back. Play continued and Trevor and Carrie prevailed.
In the final, Trevor and Carrie met undefeated Jamie and Kevin. The match started innocently until it was 4-4. Jamie stepped up after a blank box by Carrie, and dropped an unprecedented 2 pipes and a box for 7 points to achieve a total of 11 and shockingly win the tournament just like that. It was nothing short of unbelievable!
