| Is Analysis Worthwhile? Is the Theatre Really Dead? February 5 2005 well, my promise last time to get a post up sooner rather than later turned into a much later. yikes. so, here we are. and what has been happening since then in the land of kevin? well, i've played a few more gigs at The Spur, which is always nice. And I've got a few more lined up. Just check the music section for times and places. I also purchased World of Warcraft. it's my first foray into the world of Online Multiplayer games. well, yes I'll admit it. I'm addicted. It's awesome. Can't really stop playing it. crazy. I find it facinating actually. The whole idea of a perfectly realized and enclosed world that people from everywhere are inhabiting. it's very odd. and very neat too. started writing a new play last night called "Disbelieving Elephants." I like it so far. it's a lot like some of the stuff i was doing a few years ago and it's kinda nice to get back to that style. "Empire of Dirt" is starting to drive me a little crazy. I've been picking at it for about a year now and i still don't really know where it's going or how i'm going to get there. AND the deadline for the arts and letters compitition is coming up real soon. eek. well, i'm not going to sweat it if it's not done by then. as long as i finish it at some point. i've really got to stop starting and start finishing. my sweetheart and i finally got our webcams working this past week, which was awesome. it was great to see her. it's 27 more days until she's back in Newfoundland and i can't wait. oh and i got my guitar fixed finally. i played three gigs without it which was a major pain. i finally got down to a guitar shop downtown called Boogaloo. It's fairly new and really good. The guy there got my gutiar repaired in less than 2 hours and it was also really cheap. I can't wait until my next gig so i can use it again. very exciting i changed the ring on our phone last night from the Rocky theme to the James Bond theme. My brother hasn't been home since the change, so i'm looking forward to seeing his reaction when the phone rings. tee hee. the last few days in St. John's have been very spring-like; but I will not allow myself to fall into the belief that this will be a short winter. if i have learned anything: it never is. We'll get teased with a few nice days and then we'll get a blizzard. now we've already had some crazy blizzards, but i'm expecting another one. it's inevitable. well, i'll wrap it up there. and yes, World of Warcraft does suck the creative life out of you. | It's Been A Long While March 22, 2005 Boy, it's been over a month since the last update. Woah. Well, things have been well. still playing some gigs at the Spur every now and again. Got my new computer (which i'm typing on now.). It's exactly what i was looking for and exactly what i needed. it'll make traveling around the next little while a lot easier. Just got back from Corner Brook where i was visiting my sweetheart. it was so good to see her after three months. it was a wondeful weekend i must say and i can't wait to see her again. In other news I'm going on tour with Rising Tide's No Man's Land in April. i'm very excited about it. Haven't acted in a while and it wil be fun traveling with a show. The company is a great bunch of people and it will be awesome working with them again. i'm really looking forward to getting back to Trinity this summer. Maybe it's the whole living downtown thing that makes me wish for the country. But it might have more to do with just wishing for summer. time enough for winter. move along. come on now and play fair. give spring a turn.... Still playing WoW. it started to get a little boring, but since i have the new machine i've been playing more. much better video card in the new beast makes the game look gorgeous. 16 minutes left til my Office download..tee hee. Carnivale continues to be the best show on tv. one episode left to the 2nd season and the s*** is really starting to hit the fan. my deviant art site has been almost abandoned. the messages have been piling up. perhaps tonight i'll sit down and clean it up and write some responses. i've been dropping the ball with it big time lately. arghh.. I SHALL NOT SUCCUMB TO LETHARGY! that's the mantra i use whenever there's something that i've been putting off. so today i update the site and clean up devart.........and my room. :) kevin |
| (no clever title) October 3, 2005 well, here i am back in civilization after four months in Trinity Bay. My room looks like a lost and found, with everything just piled up everywhere. i guess that's kinda how i've been feeling a lot these past 6 months, moving from place to place and not really getting a chance to settle. Speaking of moving, the BIG MOVE is drawing ever closer. In case you didn't know I'm moving across the pond in November. It's very very excting and i can't wait to see my sweetheart again. Looking at the pile of gear in my room it's going to take a full month alone to sort through it all. eek! oh well. i'm planning on having some sort of bash before i leave and i'll be sure to let everyone know about it. wrote a lot of poetry this summer. really started to finally define my style. very different than what i had been doing in college. back then everything was about emotion and abstraction and nothing was about newfoundland. now it seems i'm turning into a newfoundland poet and writing about concrete things to invoke emotion. i have to say it's a style i really like and the work i've been doing this summer has been getting a lot of compliments. ergo the writing section of the page is going to see a major overhaul. Pretty much everything on it now is going to come down and i'll be putting up new stuff soon. updated my PSP firmware today to 2.01. while it's a drag that my emulators won't work on it now, it is very cool to be able to check my email with it, and set the theme and wallpaper, etc. i'm sure someone out there is already writing code to hack 2.01, so i can wait. hmm...i'll believe i'll wrap it up there for now. should probably start the day, lots to do. i'll probably get back to the site tonight. take care kevin |
