Not Going to Talk about Politics    April 1,   2004

Okay, April 1, 2004 largest public sector strike in the history of Newfoundland.  I'm NOT going to talk about it here.  You want stuff about it?  Open a newspaper or turn on the radio...today this is a political free zone...

whew....

So what's been happening this week?  A couple of wonderful spring weather days!!  I picked up some accerssories for the new bike (tee hee) (helmet, lights, bottle rack, a mini pump and a lock...i'm thinking a wedge pack next and MAYBE a back fender...) and took her out for her inagural flight.  boy am I out of shape.   oh well, it's all good...

well, you know what?  I can't really think of anything else to say...actually, i'm rather excited about my trip to Corner Brook on Saturday, so maybe I'll go and do some packing for that....hehehe.....  I'll finish this update later..promise...

The Return of Monkey Boy and Other Stories               April 8,   2004

Heya folks.  Got back yesturday from
Corner Brook.  it was really nice to be back. See all the old haunts.  Unfortunatly it rained every day I was there...ugh.  oh well.  It was a great time, but far too short....

So what's been happening?  Not much.  A friend of mine in Corner Brook told me he saw a copy of The World of the Dark Crystal the last time he was in St. John's!  Crazy...I hope it's still there.

I managed to find a copy of the Trilogy Edition of Risk: LOTR in Corner Brook.  This game got a lot of people angry with Hasbro.  Instead of releasing an add-on to the already existing board, they went and re-released the game with a new board.  This meant that you had to basically buy the whole game again, just with some new things added.  it might be a good way to make a profit, but certainly not a nice way to treat your customers.  as a hard core Risk and LOTR fan I picked it up, even though i already had the original (it was a gift from my sweetie...possibly the best and most used gift i've ever been given and on a side note she gave me the book listed on the left...it's very cool).  i'm looking forward to trying it out.  with the new territories it should make for a completely different game.

My birthday is coming up in a month and a bit and plans are already under way.  I'm thinking a crazy ass bithrday bowling party! hee hee.  bowling shirts ala Big Lebowski!  i think it could be a lot of fun. Anyway, i'll let you know what's happening when the time comes.

okay folks, that's it for now.  see you again soon,

kevin
i have become a deviant....              April 15,   2004

hey there folks.  you'll notice it's actually been a week since the last update...instead of my usual sporadic updates during the week.  well, there's a reason for that.  i recently joined an online artists community called DeviantArt.  It is awesome.  A great way to display your work and receive comments on it.    You can also browse other artist's work and comment.  I have to say I've become totally addicted to it.  It's been a real motivator for my work and I've been on an artistic frenzy over the past week.  Of course once I get all gung-ho about one form of expression, all the others tend to get neglected.  I haven't touched the new play since i got back from Corner Brook.  But I'm not worried.  There is a happy medium somewhere, and I'm confident I'll be able to find it. I've also been neglecting the new album, but if i take my computer to Trinity with me, I'm sure I'll get to record those last few songs...oh YAH..it's offical...i start work in Trinity on the 15 of June.  So as of the 14 don't expect to hear from me for a bit since I'll have to get my internet connection transfered to my new place...PLUS...i'm not even sure how I'm getting my computer there yet.  Gads!!

Here's the link to my DevArt site.   cubist-cartoonist
Since i'm using this site for my art, the art section here is going to be changing..maybe even going away...we'll see.  unfortunatly you have to be a member to make comments, so if you have any comments on my work,PLEASE come back here and leave them in the guestbook.  I'd REALLY appreciate it!

Other news....big news...HUGE NEWS...

Best buds Steve and Sarah and getting hitched.  Congradulations all around.  I've known Steve since the dawn of time (no..really...it was very dark then...until steve had the brilliant idea of telling me to turn on the propane) and he's like a second brother.  head on over to his site and wish him and Sarah (and Abby) all the best!

Ok, i'm gonna wrap it up there....but before i go... Dawn of the Dead is an awesome movie!! Go see it!

Braaaiiiiinnnssssss.....

21 and counting....              April 22,   2004

yes  my friends i have 21 more shifts left to work.  i'm putting in my two week notice on the 20th of May.  it would have been 20 shifts left. but i got asked to do an extra shift on friday night....BLAH.  Fridays are bad enough....worse when you had planned to go out with friends and have to work....man does that suck. on the flip side i'm going to ask for May 1 off work so i can help my bro celebrate his birthday and drop by at another friend's birthday bash..Woo Hoo!!  Should be good!

hmmm...what else?  Still posting on DeviantArt.  If you don't know what that is all about, you can check the Art section....hee hee

Addicted to playing The Two Towers.  The folks at EA have done some strange cutting and pasting with the first two films to create this game and i have to say it rocks.  It is an AWESOME companion to the films.  As you finish levels you unlock bonus material : interviews, production shots and stuff like that.  If you're  a great fan of the movies and only a passing gamer...this is still great to pick up.  The game uses movie footage that blends into game graphics.

gotta run....i'll finish this update later...PLUS the link in the art section.....promise.

Back to it.................April 23 2004

Ok, here's the promised finisher.  I'm sitting here with a very itchy left eye.  But scratching it only causes pain.  Why you ask?  Because i sleep in a bunk bed (yes...26 years old sleeping in a bunk bed...i like it ok).  This morning I rolled towards my doom and smacked my face off the guard rail.  So now I've got the beginnings of a shiner on my left eye...it's a major pain in the.....eye..

Yesturday I spoke of getting asked to work friday night.  Well, that's not bad, at least there is still Saturday right?  Well good ole Murphy has brought the law down on me again.  We are scheduled to have a snow storm on Saturday.  A freaking snowstorm?!?!?  What's going on?  It's got to be some kind of cruel joke...

ok...i'll wrap it up there, i got chicken burgers in the oven.  take care folks,

kevin

p.s.  the storyteller is awesome.  Anyone see this series? "Th Luck Child" is my favourite so far...
Super blah....              April 30,   2004

This is gonna be a pretty short update...bad things happened this week.  i'm not going to get into it here.  It's been pretty hard to motivate myself to do ANYTHING since it happened.  Aside from mope around the house in my pj's and watch episode after episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I've been hardly sleeping or eating as well.  Man does it suck....it's a good thing I've got friends to keep me occupied.  we went to see Kill Bill. Volume 2 two nights ago.  It was a lot of fun and good to get out.

Working tonight but then off tomorrow for my brother's birthday bash.  i can't wait for that....i really need to relax.  I'm heading out to the mall really early today to get his gift (and maybe the second season of Buffy....yes, i'm a slave to the buffinator..).  I'm kinda looking forward to a day at the mall actually.  Do a bit of shopping, get a bite to eat.  And it will be early enough that i can come home and sleep before work (or watch more episodes of Buffy...hmmm..)

anyway, i'd better cut it short there.  hopefully i'll be in a better mood for the next update.  (hopefully i'll be in a better  come saturday night...)

stay cool folks,

kevin
