I've also added some pics from World Juggling Day, so check 'em out..this little news section will be the most updated part of the site from now on. probably the best spot to go first to see if anything has changed on the site.. October 27 2003 my oh my...another change to the page...I've got too much time on my hands...I suppose this page will eventually settle somewhere...you'll also notice a new section of the page called Geek in the City. This is an e-comic I'm working on...coming soon! Oct 30 2003 I HAVE A JOB!!!! Well, it's only at Needs, but at least it's employment. I'm working the Night Shift 12- 7...that's AM, not PM...yah, yah..should be crazee, but I don't think it'll be too bad. I think the website is settling nicely. I'm satisfied with the new design so far. This section may change a little...we'll see. The e-comic may be changing slightly from the promo ( to b/w that is) first issue should be up REAL soon. So stay tuned... Oct 31 2003 HAPPY HALLOWE'EN everybody!! Here's my favorite spooky link for bone tingling enjoyment... In other news the site is moving to a more or less once a week update starting with today. I'm putting up the first page of Geek in the City. You'll notice it looks a lot different than the promo. The format may change while I'm working out the bugs...if there are any comments I'd love to hear them. To find old page news, just click the link below. Nov 5 2003 Ya , I know, I wasn't going to update the page until Friday, but I was bored. Second Page of Geek in the City should be up in a day or two and I'm starting to clean up the Bare Bones section. In other news, I think I'm getting a webcam. Yes, I thought that only sex maniacs used them, but I was talking to a friend last night and he activated his web cam. I nearly died with laughter!!! It was so cool to be able to see him. So anyway, I think I'm sold on getting one. I'll let you know how it works out. Stay tuned for more... |
It Ain't Easy Being Green Nov 7, 2003 well you'll notice a change to this section on the page...my updates here are going to take the form of little editorials or rantes or reminences (sp?) or whatever. All the Old News can still be found by following the link below. Well it's REAL early on a Friday morning and I find myself getting a little sentimental (surprise, surprise). I just got a few songs from the Muppet movie and from Chris de Burgh's albums The Getaway and Man on the Line. Got me thinking about when I was younger, where I am now and where I'm going and how nothing really stays the same. I don't really feel grown up at all. To quote Sarah McDowel (Victoria Tennant) from L.A. Story "I pretend that I'm grown up, but I'm not really." When are you supposed to know when you're grown up? No one really tells you. Maybe it's a state of mind. I don't know. ANYway, I'd better stop there. So what's new this week? I'm picking up a webcam today or tomorow (no, not for the website, just for talking to my buddies who are away). The third page of Geek in the City should be up tonight or tomorrow. And I'm starting to buckle down on cleaning up the album sections of the site...it should all be fixed up eventually. I played my first open mic in St. John's the night before last at the Spur. It was a great time and I got to spend some time hanging out with my brother. It was awesome. I realized that no matter what plans or ideas you may have in University or college, it all changes when you graduate. reality sets in and you realize it's not easy being green. It's a nice notion to say you'll live the life of a true bohemian, writing poetry and living life to the nines, a starving and happy artist, but it's certainly another ballgame when you're working at Needs and living in your parents house with no real audience for your work. Motivation is a tricky creature. Sometimes it's hard to keep going at it, and other times just the slightest interest on someone's part can send you into a creative whirlwind. Interesting, no? |
| I'm Going To Go Back There Some Day, November 14, 2003 well, well, another week another update. This was an interesting week I must say. A friend of mine was looking for my website online and came across one of my old ones. I took her advice and plugged my name into the search engine to find it and I came across postings I had made on newsgroups when I was in first year university!! This was eight years ago when the computers at our school had black screens and orange text. Surfing the net was entirely text based and not for the faint of heart. There was one computer in the Computer room that had images (i.e. it was a REAL computer) and it was always a treat to be able to use it. I used to post on three newsgroups fairly regularly: alt.religion.druid, alt.mythology and alt.montypython. It was really strange reading those old posts. I felt like I was in a time warp; as if my old self was suddenly talking to me from eight years ago. It was very interesting. This is something that I think we should all do from time to time. Revisiting our past. Remembering who we were. Too many people strive forward without any thought of where they've been and what they've left behind. Exaiming who we were can give us an insight into who we have become. I have to say that it was really nice remembering those times in first year that I had completely forgotten about. In other news, I feel like I haven't slept in a week! Rehearsals for the show (Cabaret...go see it!) and night shifts at work are really taking their toll. I haven't seen the sun in 3 days!! (that may be an exaggeration...but you get my point). Man oh man, I'd like to have just one day where I don't have to do anything, except relax. That would be awesome. As soon as the show is over I'm scheduling some 'kevin-time.' Well, what else can I say? I've changed the format for the Currents page slightly to reflect what I'm reading and listening to. Geek in the City has gotten a major overhaul since I finished the first issue!! (you're welcome Jon) Old quotes have been moved to the Old News page. This weeks quote was another trip down memory lane for me. It used to be my email signature when I was in first year. Pretty cool, huh? I've also added a section to the page called Dice and Cup. Everything about it is on that section. I'm looking for contributors, so get working you peons. (just kidding!) Once again in other news, I managed to get the time off work to take in Trilogy Tuesday...back to back to back showings of The Lord of the Rings at Studio Twelve. Man that's gonna rock...if I can stay awake. Wait. What am i saying? It's The Lord of the Rings...of course I'll stay awake!! I also cleaned house at Poker Night with Jon, Andy and Russ. I was the big winner :$4!! Next time I'm wearing a tie. Now congradulate me, I managed to get through an entire weekly update without getting too sentimental. Not bad, not too bad. |
| Somehow I'm Sure We'll Meet Again November 21, 2003 This will likely be a short update. There are too many things going on in my brain right now to get it all down. Our show opens tonight, it's going to be a great production and I encourage everyone to take in a night. I'm looking forward to closing night. This has been a tough one to rehearse and I've had no time inbetween work and rehearsals to do anything. There are a bunch of projects I had expected to have had finished by now, so it will be nice to get back to them. Still though, I don't regret being in the show. On the contrary, this show has been really good for me. I've done some things on stage I thought I would never do and I've made some very good friends as well. It's strange when it comes to theatre. you work very closely with a group of people in the most intimate situations and then all of a sudden it's over. It's sad, but that's the way it works I guess. A few years later you may meet them on the street, or they might turn up in another show a week later. You never know. Hold fast to your friends. That's my advice. Life is too short. The connections we make should never be taken lightly. There are good people in this world and we should cherish the ones we meet. We should strive to make our lives (and theirs) beautiful. Okay, okay...this is not a sermon Kevin...get on with it...Well, what else has been happening besides the show? Not a whole lot. Like I said, my time is divided between work and show, so not much time for anything else. I got a postcard from my friend Chuck. He's been in England the last few months working. When I got the card I suddenly had an urge to go back. Someday...that would be wonderful. well, I'm gonna wrap it up there for now...I may add to this tomorrow, we'll see. Have a good week folks, |
| Sweet Suburban Sky November 30, 2003 yup, i know, 2 days late on the update. this been a real busy week. Cabaret has come and gone and it was quite a ride. I'm sure anyone who was in it or saw it will never forget the production. it was quite something. On to this week's news... the little header at the top refers to a song of the same name by Paddy Casey. A friend of mine sent me the song and it's quickly becoming one of my favourites. The title really sums up how I started my week. I was getting ready to leave the store (where I work ), it was about 6:30 am and the sky was absolutley magnificent. Pinks, reds and oranges...I just stood in the parking lot and watched it for a few minutes in the cold morning air. It was refreshing and inspiring. Looking at something like that can make you forget that the world exists, while at the same time remind you of it's beauty. You can become lost in it and found at the same time. It was a great way to start the week. In other news, I lost all my money at the semi-weekly Poker Night..despite winning the first 5 hands! but as a friend of mine pointed out, it was the 6th hand that was my downfall! Despite offers of loans from the guys, my honour forebade me and Russ came out the big winner. I managed to catch a showing of Master and Commander this week...great flick if you're into ship battles in the Nepoleonic era. Really well made. In other movie news, only 2 weeks to go until trilogy tuesday and the Last Samurai opens on Friday. Man oh man that's gonna rock. I also saw a fantastic animated short today called The Snowman (I'm a bit crazy about animations). A friend of mine showed me this beautiful Christmas animation. It was quite haunting and something I'll definetly be adding to my collection. Geek in the City has fallen behind a fair bit, it's been a busy week, but I do have a page ready to go up and hopefully a few more in the coming days. The National Songwriting Compitition deadline is coming up, so I'm going to be pretty busy trying to put together some submissions for that. Anyway, I'll wrap it up there for now, remember to keep looking up at that sweet suburban sky, it makes everything feel better, |
