NEWS - Kenny Chesney Elated By Acquittal In 'Horse' Case
05/24/2001

(5/24/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- After a Buffalo, New York jury rendered Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw not guilty Wednesday (May 23) afternoon in the "horse misunderstanding" case, Chesney was elated.

"We've been waiting 11 months for the trial so that we could state our case and the truth be heard," said the singer in a statement. "We are thrilled! I would like to thank the people of Buffalo for their support and patience during this long and highly publicized ordeal. And to my fans, thank you for your belief. We're glad this is over."

After the verdict was announced, Chesney, McGraw, and his wife Faith Hill immediately departed Buffalo and returned to Nashville where Chesney will pack for a vacation. Chesney and McGraw will begin their highly anticipated tour on June 20 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Chesney faced charges of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident that occurred last June in Buffalo when he mounted a police horse, much to the displeasure of local authorities.

NEWS - Kenny Chesney Speaks Out For First Time On Trial Verdict
06/15/2001

(6/15/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- For the first time since being acquitted of disorderly conduct charges in a New York courtroom last May, Kenny Chesney spoke frankly with reporters backstage Wednesday night (July 13) at the TNN & CMT Country Weekly Awards regarding the incident.

Chesney acknowledged that while he and fellow entertainer Tim McGraw received a lot of publicity regarding their case, the charges were not taken lightly by either singer. "Yeah, we got a lot of publicity out of it--good and bad," he said. "I think as a whole it has made me a lot stronger of a person. We went through a lot. I lost a few night's sleep over it at first and then finally I just let it go. It was something that could have been avoided very easily if it was handled differently by a certain few people. That's really all I have to say about it. We won. We could have settled out of court but Tim [McGraw] and I believed we were right. We knew we were right and we were not gonna settle. If we would have settled it would have sent a message that, 'Okay, maybe they really did do it and they are buying their way out of it.' That is not what I wanted and it is definitely not what Tim wanted. So we went up there and fought them and won."

Chesney faced charges of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident that occurred last June in Buffalo when he mounted a police horse, much to the displeasure of local authorities. Tim McGraw was also found innocent of the charges filed against him.

Chesney was awarded the discovery award at the TNN & CMT Country Weekly Awards Show on Wednesday night. The award recognizes the new country music artist who "demonstrates the greatest promise in achieving star status and career longevity."

NEWS - Kenny Chesney Anticipates Basketball-Filled Tour With McGraw
06/18/2001

(6/18/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- Kenny Chesney spent the better part of Fan Fair week rehearsing for his upcoming tour with good friend Tim McGraw. The Set This Circus Down tour officially kicks off on Wednesday (June 20) in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Journal Pavilion. Chesney already predicts that there will be little variation in the two singers' daily routines.

"Our day's pretty filled up with basketball and doing whatever we do," Chesney tells LAUNCH. "We'll play basketball in the morning and work out, and then go do whatever we gotta do with the radio and the media and then we'll go do our show and basically that's what we'll be doing. I guarantee it's gonna be like that for 45 days in a row."

The Set This Circus Down tour will wrap up on August 25 in Nashville.

The success of Chesney's last single, "Don't Happen Twice," which recently topped the country charts, was celebrated during a party last Thursday (June 14) in Nashville. Chesney's next single, "Tin Man," will be released in July.

NEWS - Kenny Chesney Has Near-Miss With World Trade Center Tragedy 09/12/2001

(9/13/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Kenny Chesney was slated to be in New York Tuesday (September 11) to shoot a video for his current single, "The Tin Man," in front of the World Trade Center. Fortunately for Chesney, the shoot was canceled a couple of weeks ago. The singer's label felt that the song was doing so well at radio that the video was no longer necessary to increase the song's visibility, according to the Tennessean. "God works in mysterious ways," Chesney said through his publicist. "We decided to wait for the next album to do the next video, and I was kind of disappointed because I really loved this song and the concept we had. New York is an amazing city and to have that as a backdrop is beyond words, but not like this. This defies words, too. The pain, shock, anger, and confusion you can't even talk about. I'm certainly glad that I wasn't there, and I feel terrible for all the families who have been affected by this." "The Tin Man" hold the Number 26 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. -- Margy Holland, Nashville
