This sketch is the nearest Id got to doing a self portrait. I did it at the end of June 2001 when I had returned from a night out with colleagues prior to the holidays. I had anticipated being drunk and arranged to stay in town at my mothers house. When I woke up, I had memories of talking utter rubbish to everyone. I got a hard pencil and sketched my clothes as Id left them draped on a dining chair from the night before; being away from wearing a suit and a collar and tie felt so good, even with a hangover, and I wanted to spend my freedom drawing - regardless of appropriate pencils! I like this sketch. |
