"As we have opportunity, let
us do good unto all,
especially unto them who are
of the household of faith."
Galatians 6:10

Come on in! You're always welcome! Pardon the
mundane activities going on here. I'm vacuuming, hanging new curtains,
weeding, planting flowers, mowing the lawn--all that good stuff. If you
see a dessert you'd like to nibble while you visit here, grab it! Especially
like the flowers? Pick a few to take with you. The music playing is Ken's
favorite song. We hope you enjoy your stay and return often.
IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
When peace, like a river, attendeth
my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught
me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though
trials should come, Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my
helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this
glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and
I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
And Lord, haste the day when
my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and
the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.
(Refrain) It is well, with my
soul, It is well, with my soul, It is well, it is well, with my soul.

1873; Music by Philip P. Bliss, 1876.

Speaking of vacuuming, I HAD to include this anecdote I read.
In our first few years of marriage, I wanted to impress my mother-in-law with my wonderful housekeeping skills. Not sure of what she'd think, I kept quiet about the fact my husband and I actually split the housekeeping chores.
Then one day while she was visiting, our two-and-a-half-year-old
son, Joey, knocked over a plant, spreading dirt everywhere. I got the vacuum
and quickly cleaned the mess. Pointing at the vacuum, Joey looked at me
indignantly and said, "Did Daddy say you could borrow that?" My mother-in-law
laughed so hard her face was almost as red as mine! --Grace

Perhaps you have already guessed my name. Then again, perhaps you unknowingly missed it--The Household of Faith is the home of...Faith! (Of course! :)You knew that all along, didn't you?)
For several years, as a child, I hated my name because during song service or sermons at church, any time the word faith was spoken, people looked at me and grinned. After tearfully spilling my woe to my father, he sat me down and explained just why I have that name.
After Mom's third, and very troubled--though successful, pregnancy, the doctor told my parents in no uncertain terms, "No more kids!" All went well for the next five years... until I happened. The doctor berated my parents and pressured them to terminate me. Besides the previous pregnancy, my mother had a number of other physical difficulties, and I was too big a risk to take. One or both of us were sure to die unless I was terminated. (Why couldn't he understand that one of us was VERY sure to die if I WAS terminated!!) When my parents said they would not terminate me, rather trusting in God and submitting to His will, the doctor recommended more time to think about it.
But their minds were already made up. They contacted family and friends everywhere they could think of and asked them to pray for Mom and the new baby. They had another name chosen, but when I was born, Dad and Mom said, "She's only here because of faith. Faith HAS to be her name." ...Of course, the meaning of my name is obvious, but do you know what your name means?
Then the doctor cautioned that I would not live through the first six months, a year, etc., until he finally realized he was being overridden! Every birthday for me was a celebration of the power of God, and Dad would tell me that God has a very special purpose for my life. So, although I am a woman, I am NOT ashamed of my age. I am 47, and I'm still acknowledging and thanking God for every year He gives me.
So...whenever you feel at the end of things, don't give up. God can pull you through...if you can stand the pullin'! Tie a knot and hang on to your faith!
Before I was married, I worked for five years as an edit-proofer in curriculum development at School of Tomorrow, taught for five years in a traditional one-room-schoolhouse-type learning center, then changed to teaching in a conventional setting for two years of H.S. English and a year of college English. Then I became a Christian homemaker and did several years as a freelance proofreader and editor. I still enjoy reading, and am glad I have time now to read just for enjoyment. (P.S. I don't proofread or edit letters e-mailed to us or conversations in chat boxes on the 'Net, so don't be afraid to drop us a line or chat with us.)
In July, 1997, God led us to move to Friendsville, a nice little city (the sign SAYS it is indeed a city!) in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, to be involved in the ministry of Foothills Christian Academy, a small school providing Christian education to children in Grades K-12.
After four years of working the FCA office, I resigned and took up a full-time private care nursing assistant position for an elderly quadriplegic. I had worked in a nursing home during college and loved it, so I thought I was going to enjoy private care too--perhaps even more so since there was only one person to whom I had to attend. To my great dismay, the five months I did private care were among the worst months of my life because I was totally unprepared for the mind games a bitter quadriplegic can play.
After I quit the private care position, I landed a job in Knoxville as telephone book delivery verifier. The work involved at my first position was rather the "brain dead" type, but it was what I needed at the time. Eventually I worked in several other departments which were much more challenging. I was employed by this company for 4 years. (Heh, seems to be a pattern here with the 4 year bit!)
In June, 2006, I started my ministry business, Spreading the Faith, to assist Christian churches, ministries and organizations with various office needs. I am so happy to be working in a Christian environment and doing work that will last for eternity!
Even when I don't have time (yeh, I know... bad!), my favorite activities include surfing the 'Net, blogging, chatting with family on GoogleTalk or Yahoo Messenger, catching up with long-time internet friends on PalTalk and playing or working on our computer. In the past I especially enjoyed the various card shop programs from CreataCard Plus!, The Print Shop, and Card Studio from Hallmark, but now I rarely make cards or posters other than for work. Another pasttime I have not taken the time to enjoy in a long time (like when I am visiting with family or friends and traveling to and fro) is crafts such as crochet and plastic canvas. I have a number of unfinished projects in my craft closet!
I am always on the lookout for recipes for meals (especially one-dish meals!!) that don't take a lot of complicated ingredients or preparation--but taste like it! Meals are demolished in 30 minutes (or less!), and there are important things to do and enjoy! :) And then, of course, there's always chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate..............
I am having a blast being married to a most wonderful, considerate, hilarious, loving husband who loves the Lord and me more than anyone or anything else. On June 13 , 2008, we celebrated sixteen blissful years of marriage!
Ken, 48, worked for 15 years in shipping/receiving at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. (Oops, I forgot to tell you that we lived in a Baltimore, MD suburb for the first five years of marriage!) Since our move to TN, he has continued to work in medical shipping/receiving, at McKesson General Medical HBOC (whatever those letters mean!), Geneva Pharmceuticals and, Cardinal Health.
Of course, if you get him on the computer, he is as bad as I am, although he spends his time in Fantasy Sports teams as well as frequenting Promise Keepers sites, sports pages, news media, Real Audio, and irc chat rooms.
Offline he enjoys SimCity3000, ShangHai, Myst (more trademarks are probably supposed to be here...oh, well!), other computer "stuff," GameBoy (these trademark things are about to do me in!), WalMart, and keeping up with our finances, shopping (he used to do coupons--hey, why not since he actually ENJOYED it?!), and reading. When certain company visits, he is excited about his PlayStation, which means there is not as much competition for the computer! :)
My entire family is quite involved with music. We sing and play various instruments together. I play saxophone for the most part (have done more with a digital saxophone, DH-100, in the last 11 years), but I also enjoy the variety of clarinet, French horn, autoharp, Omnichord, and piano (no, not all at the same time!!) even though I don't play any of them well enough for you to listen in.
Ken fits in wonderfully with my family; he has a song in his heart and usually on his lips too! We enjoy singing duets for our local church congregation, and at home rarely do we listen to a tape, CD or radio without any extra "accompaniment." Our favorite groups are the Cathedrals (we mourned their retirement at the end of 1999) and Greater Vision, and our favorite soloist is probably Steve Green. If you split us up, however, Ken would say, "Jesse Dixon" (of Gaither HomeComing fame) and I would say, "Randy Travis."
We enjoy traveling. Faith has visited Israel and lived for two years in Taiwan, and together we have visited the Bahamas. If you are planning a trip, you may want to leaf through our Vacation Planner.
For many years Faith collected frogs, Ziggy's, little houses and churches. Garfield and nutcrackers catch Ken's eye.
..............ONLY
for Ken would I do this! :)
