After I had winged it single for 31 years, God incredibly brought me to Ken. Finally, on June 13, 1992, we were married. When we were coming up on the five-year mile-marker, I wanted to make a special celebration page here to say

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

to my wonderful husband--Ken! :) How I thank God for blessing my life with you!
Because of your love, I understand so much more about Christ's love.

Well, now we are celebrating our 16th anniversary...
but we both like the page so much, and we've received so many nice comments about sharing our special day that we decided to leave it here.

... ..

The music playing is "Each for the Other" because I haven't yet obtained a midi file for "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" which is the song Ken and I selected to be used as our processional. Yes, it was our processional because Ken met me halfway back the aisle (some people thought he was running out on me!)
and escorted me the rest of the way. Our wedding party, joined by the audience
at specified times, sang this song, making our entry even more special.

Our Wedding Invitation
Love was meant to be shared
with parents, family, and friends
Faith and Ken
have found a love in each other
which brings the promise
of joy and fulfillment.
Because you have shared
in their lives by your friendship and love,
we invite you to celebrate with us
on Saturday, the thirteenth of June
nineteen hundred and ninety-two
at one o'clock in the afternoon
Church of the Nazarene
East Market Street
Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania

Mr. & Mrs. Timothy L. Cooley
Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth W. Young, Sr.

Interestingly enough (since we do not know Wendy whose background set we borrow here), we chose a Scripture song to this verse to be sung while the groom and his attendants entered the sanctuary because we know that
our love and marriage was certainly according to His time!

Our Marriage Vows
I, Ken, take you, Faith, to be my wife;
to have and to hold from this day forward;
to cherish you with the intensity of my whole heart;
to dedicate my energies to making our marriage strong.
I choose you to be my wife, this day, and every day.
I promise to continue the commitment
we made from the beginning of our courtship
to be honest always and to communicate
even when it hurts for the moment.
I am determined that
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
I promise to seek God's face for wisdom
and to lead our home by Godly principles.
I promise to share with you both the strength
and graciousness of my God.
Today I give you my name.
I promise to live honorably
so that you may bear my name with pride.
All this I promise to you before our God,
our families, and our friends,
and nothing but death shall part us.

I, Faith, take you, Ken, to be my husband;
to have and to hold from this day forward;
to cherish you with the intensity of my whole heart;
to dedicate my energies to making our marriage strong.
I choose you to be my husband, this day, and every day.
I promise to continue to be honest
and to communicate even when it hurts for the moment.
I promise to keep myself open to you,
to let you see through the window
of my personal world into my innermost fears
and feelings, secrets and dreams.
I promise to grow along with you
as we both are being conformed to the image of Christ,
and to be willing to face the changes
that accompany that growth.
"Where you go, I will go,
and where you stay, I will stay.
Your people will be my people, and your God my God."
All this I promise to you before our God,
our families, and our friends,
and nothing but death shall part us.

Our Prayer-Time Song
My dad (who went to be with the Lord eight years before our big day) and I
had sung this song many times together--up front as well as while traveling various places,
so including it in our wedding ceremony seemed the way to include his fatherly admonition.
My two brothers harmonized beautifully as they sang this song.
...And the memory-making continues,
because now Ken and I enjoy singing it together!

What God Hath Promised
God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives thro';
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.

God hath not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe;
He hath not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.

God hath not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain, rocky and steep,
Never a river, turbid and deep.

(Chorus) But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.
Words by Annie Johnson Flint; Music by Alfred B. Smith.

The Exchange of Bibles
Ken to Faith:
I give you this Bible to demonstrate my determination that
"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Read it with love and joy. This Book will be our manual
and will be the foundation of our growth together because
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it."
It will be a reminder to me to love you as Christ loves His Church,
and a reminder to you of my commitment.
May our love be a reflection of His love.

Faith to Ken:
I give you this Bible to demonstrate my support for you
as we build our home according to the instructions in this book.
Read it with love and joy. This Bible will be a reminder to me that
"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands
the foolish one tears hers down" and a reminder to you of my commitment.
May our love reflect Christ's love for us.

Another Song We Used
One more item...
From the first time that I heard "The Twelfth of Never"
I dreamed of using it at my wedding. It was a new song to Ken,
but as soon as he heard it, he agreed, and my dream came true.
(If anyone knows this is in a midi file on the web, PLEASE tell me!!!)

The Twelfth of Never
You ask how much I need you, must I explain?
I need you, oh, my darling, like roses need rain.
You ask how long I'll love you, I'll tell you true,
Until The Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you.

Hold me close, never let me go;
Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.

I'll love you till the bluebells forget to bloom,
I'll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.
I'll love you till the poets run out of rhyme,
Until The Twelfth of Never, And that's a long, long time;
Until The Twelfth of Never, And that's a long, long time.
Words by Paul Francis Webster; Music by Jerry Livingston

P.S. What was your first clue that our colors were teal and aqua?? :)

Before you go, please sign my guestbook!!
