Dear Friends of Travis,
Thank you for your support and love for our sweet Travis. On June 3,
1998, Travis came into remission from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Philadelphia
Positive. Then, on July 29, we received the incredible news that a "perfect
match" (for a bone marrow transplant) has been found for Travis through
the National Marrow Donor Registry! We are so grateful to have achieved
these two milestones.
Travis (and our whole family) faces difficult days ahead. We are all
working hard to remain positive and supportive of each other -- and it is
Travis himself who provides inspiration to those that know him (or have
now heard of him). From his "Thanks, Doctor, for the spinal!"
etiquette after this "undesirable" procedure, to always asking
for extra Band-Aids or stickers for his brother Spencer after he has a difficult
treatment, to his own idea of sharing his balloons while in the hospital,
to making get well cards for other kids, to his "Hi! Did you hear I
have a match?" when he meets someone, Travis' thoughtful, innocent,
generous and fun-loving personality has remained true. His initials, T.R.Y.,
hold great meaning for us. Travis has much to teach us all.
The good that has come from this devastating disease has been our opportunity
to experience the incredible outpouring of love and support from people
like you from around the world. Please know that we deeply appreciate your
prayers and kindness in support of Travis. Thank you from the bottom of
our hearts.
With love and best wishes,
Melanie Goldish, Joe Yon
