FAST TRACK TO CAFOVILLE

8/19/99 NDEQ memo fast tracking the Class I CAFO permit. Was this to aid the dairy to beat the grandfather clause for existing operations under LB 822? Does everyone get two day service at the NDEQ?

ENGINEERS REPORT

DAIRY PLOT PLAN
I'm not kidding! This is what passes for a design plan for a CAFO. Prepared by JES Environmental Services. Can you say, high school drafting class?

WETLANDS PHOTO
View of PABFX Federal Wetlands within sight of the TeVelde Dairy.

STOCKYARD RUN OFF
Tendrils of stockpiled waste flow from the dairy's feed lot after a spring rain. Taken around the time that someone noticed "brown frothy" effluent in a ditch draining into the Verdigre Creek and federal wetlands.

DAIRY AND WETLANDS
View of the TeVelde dairy looking west. I don't see any other dairies, do you?

The Verdigre Creek
Antelope County Nebraska

Do you see the colors in the picture above.
That picture doesn't even come close to the actual beauty of this spot.

Can you imagine the sound of the water as it flows and undulates down
switchback banks? Or the hypnotic effect of swirling water?

Can you hear the red winged blackbirds call in the spring or the wren
scold you from her streamside nest in summer? Or the chickadee's
zee zee zee when the creek is blanketed in snow?

Can you hear the gleeful laughter of your son or
daughter catching their first trout?

Can you feel the tension leave you as you concentrate
on the cast and the drift of your fly?

This is what this site, and what all this time and effort is about.

A rare cold water stream

in a land of many farms and dairies.

Please help us preserve the Verdigre Creek for future generations.
The best way you can help is to come and see for yourself.
