The expedition couldn't have taken place without the generosity of our sponsors:
Hillmorton Locks Canal Shop
Dunchurch Management Centre
Hotel in Oxford
We awoke early the next morning and by this time having lost a lot of kit and also having become much more efficient at packing a sea-kayak we were off in record time. We knew that we needed to paddle very quickly as we were returning the sea-kayaks to Highland Canoes early at 15:00 hours. As the day was reasonably short we thought that we could do this easily however we soon discovered that the head wind we were paddling into was making life very difficult. This was especially harsh as we'd enjoyed such strong tail winds the day before.

The day was gloomy and was the worst weather wise that we had as can be seen in the way the picture below is so overcast. The day was to see the end of Loch Ness:

Looking back on Loch Ness
The day saw us paddle past some very beautiful houses and one of our favorites can be seen below:

a beautiful house
Our last look down Loch Ness was one of sorrow really that we hadn't been able to spend more time exploring it as there are lots of things to do, we felt we'd hardly even touched the surface although we also seemed to have had so little time. A picture down the lake as we had our last look back:

We left Loch Ness and began to paddle on the canal again. Our first challenge was to yet again avoid a weir which was very easy to manage as it was very obvious and as long as it was given a wide berth didn't affect us at all. Just after this there was yet another beautiful property on the edge of the loch. This is a picture of me in front of the house.

With the promise of a shower and a real bed we renewed our paddling and made it to the end of our final day. We elected to get out at the A82 road bridge, as this is where the kayaks were being collected. It was the end of a very enjoyable trip and has given me many great memories which although maybe not funny at the time seem so now.

That evening we went out for a meal at a local restaurant which was great. We slept well then we returned home via my grandparents in Carlisle stopping there for the night. Everyone who went I think without exception enjoyed themselves and my only question is, when can I go again?!? Have fun!!!

One final point is try and be more organised than we were:

Us unpacking at the end...tidy reallly!
