The next morning we woke up and there were strong winds that threatened to end our expedition, as they were bordering on the unsafe. Fortunately our Supervisor decided that it was safe to paddle and also the wind was following us so we were blown in the right direction. The Loch Ness monster was forced out of the water and this gave us another ideal opportunity to see it, as you can see the monster takes many shapes and forms.

We set off down the Loch with higher hopes than the previous evening although a little more wary as the waves were a couple of feet all the time and this was very new to us. The bonus was that the strong wind that was blowing was behind us and also our journey that day was fairly short compared to the previous days. We set off and tried to keep fairly close to the shore on the left as it was reassuring to us if it was near. We made incredible time due partly to the following weather but also due to some determined paddling. Part of the way we stopped for a hot chocolate that we felt that we'd earned as not only was it windy but it was also raining. As you can see we found a cosy little place in the undergrowth, which was sheltered.
After this we had a reasonably short paddle left to complete our days journey. A good picture of Loch Ness that gives some idea of size can be seen below.

The next site of interest for us was a castle called 'Urquhart Castle' these are extensive ruins with a very good visitors centre and as such are well worth a visit if you're in the area and have the time. A picture of the castle as seen from the water.

Just after passing the castle we got into Borlum campsite this was very early at about 15:30 pm. Having arrived so early we decided to go and see a waterfall back near where we had camped the night before so we set off in the minibus. It is possible to walk to the waterfall which is at Invermoriston from the campsite we used which is Rubha Ban campsite. As you can see from the below pictures it is a must see thing if you can make it.

We returned to our campsite and set up camp. This included trying unsuccessfully to get a campfire going which was sad but it kept us entertained and we discovered that if you ever need to make smoke then toilet roll is the thing to use. This was the end of a much easier day for us and we all slept well. Good tidings for the next day as well as we saw a red sky at night.
