Day 01.   Kathmandu area Orientation, Swayambhunath & Museum.
Morning:    Breakfast at our Lodge Restaurant.
Private Transport to Swayambhunath, known as the "Monkey Temple".
Situated on a hilltop not far from Kathmandu, it is an Ancient Stupa,
Temple and Village offering great Shops & Markets, with the best view
of Kathmandu. Built in 5 A.D., it has two Buddha's & Lions guarding
the 360 step entrance.
Lunch:   At our Lodge Restaurant.
Afternoon:   I (Gary, your Aussie Guide & Escort) will take us
exploring. We will walk only 100m from our Lodge to Durbar Square,
which is in the center of Kathmandu's Ancient system of Alley's,
and visit the "Old Kings Palace". It overlooks Durbar Square and
is now an interesting Museum, Celebrating King Tribhuvan.
We will continue through the alley's and I will show you Cultural sites,
Shops, Markets, the International Post Office, Banks, Medical Places,
Fresh food shops who carry imported food from Australia, Embassy's
and Phone/Fax & Email Cafe's. After a great day of sightseeing and
Orientation, we return to our Lodge for a relaxing Dinner. Do what
you like tonight, Go for a walk in the alley's at night, Sit on a Pyramid
step watching local markets lit by lanterns or socialize at Home-Base
in the Restaurant, our rooms or up on our rooftop 6 floors high.
Day 02.   Exploring Kathmandu City.
Morning:   Breakfast at our Lodge Restaurant.
You will experience a lot today. I will look after you & organize your
needs, You just Enjoy! At this time one of the above Festivals will
be starting. We will go exploring, however remember that while we
do our own thing, the whole City and all the alley's will be very busy
and Festive. I will again start us off by taking us to Durbar Square
as we live so close. It is a huddle of Shrines & Temples on small
stepped Pyramids, Markets & World Heritage Sites, surrounded
by Ancient buildings with intricately carved eaves, doors & windows.
From here we will travel across town by rickshaw. We will see or
stop at many other Stupa's, Temples or Shops with various types
of Craft along the way.
Lunch:   As your Aussie Guide & Escort, I would have lead us to the
Thamel area of Kathmandu, where we will visit a friends Restaurant.
Afternoon:   During more sightseeing we work our way back through
the Festive Action in these Ancient Alley's to our Lodge for Dinner.
The Festival is bound to be very active until about Ten PM, so you
should have a Quick look at Durbar Square after Dinner if you have
any energy left.
Day 03.   Free-Day! Extra Activities like Hot-Air Ballooning available.
Morning:   Breakfast available anytime at our Lodge Restaurant.
Sleep in, or do a very early Extra-Activity like Hot-Air Ballooning, called
"Balloon Sunrise", which is a one-hour Balloon flight that lifts you 3,000m
above the Kathmandu Valley floor, over green terraced fields in the crisp
morning air. This should cost US$240 including airport transfers with a
Nepalese friend from our Lodge as an escort.
Lunch:   I will take us out to a favorite local Restaurant.
Afternoon:   You will find plenty to do with the Festival & Parades
going on everywhere. The Lodge offers a variety of choices as well.
My staff & I are happy to help you do anything you wish. Dinner will be
available anytime at the Lodge.
Day 04.   Excursion of Kathmandu Valley. Bhaktapur, Patan.
Morning:   Early Breakfast at our Lodge.
We will leave very early by private coach for Bhaktapur, a 9th Century
City built in the same manner as all Nepalese Small Towns & Cities,
with it's own Durbar Square and system of Ancient Alley's.
Lunch:   We will enjoy a Bhaktapur Restaurant.
Afternoon:   We will continue through the Kathmandu Valley enjoying
the views, Villages and Landscape. From this very large Valley floor
we see that we are surrounded 360 degree's by Himalayan Mountains.
We arrive at Patan known as the sister City of Kathmandu, to find
another Ancient City on the banks of the Bagmati River. After exploring
Patan's Markets, Alley's & Durbar Square we will return to Kathmandu
for a Relaxing Dinner at our Lodge.
Day 05.   Excursion to Boudhanath.
Morning:   Breakfast at our Lodge Restaurant.
We can have a slow start today. We will socialize at our Lodge and
discuss coming excursions and any issues.
Lunch:   Early lunch at our Lodge Restaurant.
Afternoon:   Private transport to Boudhanath, arriving mid-afternoon,
and hoping for a great sunset like in one of the pictures from the link
above. This is a 5th Century Stupa, Temple & Village built on the
old walking track Lama's used on their way to Tibet. It is said to be the
Largest Stupa in the World. Early evening we will return to our Lodge
for a Relaxing Dinner and social night. Festival action will be going on
everywhere throughout the Alley's and you will probably feel the need
to have a look.
