"Dr. Linwood H. Dorr was born in Gardiner and graduated from the University of Vermont Medical School. He came to Dresden in 1890 and maintained his practice here until very shortly before his death on July 13, 1940." (AHD, pg 99, includes a picture)
"Dr. Linwood H. Dorr was born in Gardiner Maine, December 30, 1866, and came to Dresden, in 1890. He attended the Gardiner schools, fitting for college at the high school. Entered Bates College, where he remained for two years, then entered the Medical School of the University of Vermont,at Burlington from which he graduated in 1889. Began his practice in Dresden, where he has had success. He married Altena Weeks, and lives at Dresden Mills village." (HOD, pg 720)

notes about Bessie & Thomas: (from an email from Kelly Sargent)
"I also found Thomas's obituary in a 1937 Oregon paper. He died in June of 1937 as best as I can tell. I am still waiting for the copy from the paper so I can't be sure. I did find his grave in Neer City, Columbia County, Oregon. I was also told that Bessie is buried in Vancouver, Washington at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Kendall and Robert are also buried there. I am waiting to contact the cemetary after the Holidays to see if I can verify."

I just wanted to say thanks again for giving me the advice to talk to Kelly, b/c she hooked me up with a TON of info about my great-grandmother, Jesse Houdlette. I also wanted to let you know that I did find the link on your website to myself. Under "Generation 6" on your site, my great grandmother is listed as Jesse A. Houdlette, daughter of Wilbur Houdlette and Alice Avrell, which is under Grandchildren of Charles & Louisa Flint. For your own records, Jesse's middle name is Alice. Jesse Alice Houdlette was born Aug 6 1895 in Dresden, Lincoln, Maine. Her first marriage was to Lehman E. Deining, who was born in Aug of 1891 and died Sep 29, 1971 in Umatilla Co., Oregon. Jesse and Lehman moved to Pendelton, Oregon and had 2 children..., Jesse's second marriage was to William Case, who adopted the two children. .... Anyway, somehow Jesse got to St. Louis, Missouri where she died abt 1965..... That's my Houdlette connection! If you'd like anymore info about Jessie Alice Houdlette, I have now traced her roots clear back to the 1500s, on both her mother's and father's sides.
