I've update the
Amber Links page and found a new resource. http://dmoz.org/Games/Roleplaying/Systems/Amber/
at the dmoz open directory project. The person responsible for the Equinox
campaign site is the Amber editor of "the largest human-edited directory
of the web". I'll submit our site once the email snafus get fixed.

I am updating the
storyline so far. Each of you should have "Prelude" in your file share
folders. The beginnings of Act One are also in. Some of you have stats
and a new version of your trump/character information page. Still trying
to find a way to get my Mac zip files into the shares. As soon as possible.
If you have no clue what the file share folder for your character is
or where it's at, let me know. Will reenroll you.

I've had some problems
with Yahoo mail since the "service denial attack"s earlier this year.
Either messages arrive late or not at all. New address is at Excite.
Will make changes on website later if can not go back to the former.

I've changed the
o2ranger homepage once again. I feel happy with it at last, (at least
for awhile). Please check out the drop down menu for "Scion" and let
me know what other major categories you would like a fast link to.
OK folks. I think
I'm able to put a consistent deadline on my posts now. Every Sunday....
Please turn in your moves before then. At this point in time, we're
all awaiting. Unless someone in the shadows has something up their sleeves.....
;) Or someone realizes that it is extremely
dark outside and wishes to sleep before the warfare starts..... O
:)
CONFUSED???? At a
loss for what to do next??? I agree that the long hiatus has put a major
block in our momentum. Below are some ideas for getting back on track:
- Your character
file shares are (or will be) a big help to keep track of stats, storylines,
secrets, and numerous other "S" words. If a computer breaks down or
you need to research a quick fact away from home and your own files,
this should be another way to access them from any other web-connected
machine. I am updating stats and storylines first, so that I can rebuild
my 'feel' for your alter-ego and to make it easier for you to refresh
your action plans. Maps of secret passages, copies of your player
contributions, logs of our email conversations, and other stuff will
be added as fast as can.
- As you reread
your storylines, try highlighting all the passages you have questions
about, or would like to follow up on. Maybe a pencil note as a sidebar
to remind you of a goal or meeting you don't want to forget to work
towards. At this point, each character has at least three item/goal/meeting
actions/events to gain experience. If you have any questions about
these or the game world, please ask. I will answer as fully as possible
without giving away any major mysteries.
- As the file shares
are updated, I am also updating the related pages on the web site.
Please don't forget that this resource exists. It is fun for me to
make, but it's primary goal is to help you by adding background and
information in one generally accessible place. Again, please let me
know when something is hard to navigate to/from, if the content is
too much or not enough, and any other issues/comments that you have.
- To speed play,
I am suggesting a form of double posting for those interested. This
should help those in secret meetings or when players are just wanting
some all group conversation time (such as a party). An example of
this might be the prequel "A Maturing Wine" participated in before
actual game play started. Some considerations are:
- TIMING. The
double post should not clash with already established game play
or future game play. Since Day/Time is being tracked, players
must first get an OK from me on the meeting start and end time.
No conversations will be legal until this is agreed upon.
- LOCATION.
Keep in mind your locations must be plausible with the storyline.
No having a conversation at 3am in the Castle if before/later
one character is on the mainland and the other is incarcerated
in the dungeon. Neither could possibly be in the library at the
designated time. (This is another reason why finding Trump cards
is so important. Long-distance calling?)
- FUTURE AFFECTS.
Since a double post set in the future will be a major affect on
storyline, I will need to limit future times to within four hours
of the present. (If you wish a secret meeting at 2 am, the double
post can not occur before 10 pm game time.) If you have double
posted at 2 am, you must finish current events in time to make
it to the game location already future posted. (Announce you are
going to bed at midnight. Go to bed. No one else will be able
to contact you, physically or by Trump, during the double posted
time.)
Any questions/concerns about
this??

If you are interested
in OOC (out of character) conversations with fellow players and lurkers,
I've added a Yahoo! message board Amber Talk
to the site. Control and secrecy are just two of a GM's virtues :) I
promise little of this on the board.
If you have a hard
time connecting on the first click, go BACK, then click again. The server
is busy at times. Sometimes the third click will do 'ya.

Don't forget to
say hello! The message board is open. Gerry
has added a quick hello message to start. Anyone else?
Someone has suggested the Scion site would be easier to navigate if
was in frames instead of the current one-page table structure. I'm trying
to keep it accessible to all web browsers, but agree a complete side-window
index would be handy. How do you feel about this??
Also may have found a professional artist that can make Trump originals
for the group. Will be my present. Please give me a detailed description
of the location, setting, pose, etc of your character for this. If you
need suggestions/help please let me know. They will be posted on the
website and hopefully I will be able to send you the originals.
Thank you Gerry for the inspiration. Sorry Tommie. I know you wanted
to do this, but I also know that you are strapped for time. If you wish
to do these for pc points, the more the merrier.

Apologies for the
no show on my part this week. Must retie the family ties and do a face
to face in another place and time. Will try to send turn on my part
before leaving, but no guarantees made. Should be back by the 10th.
Am considering inviting a Royal cousin or two to the game table. Anyone
interested or wish to pull a friend into the fray?
Questions 3 from the GM on the message board.
Do you have an answer? Should they be answered? All comments welcome.
A glimpse on the direction I'm headed about the character Trumps. My
first thought was to contract with Tina
Thomas. I love her style and her sister said might be interested.
Proposal sent but no message received back yet. She does say no current
commissions on the website, but her work is top notch and will continue
to ask occasionally until an artist is finalized or she tells me no
way. Persistance pays, usually.
My second message went to the
LogrusWeaver. I thought her style would be a unique addition. She
respectfully declined because of clothing problems in Poser (the program
has a corporate wardrobe apparently) and suggested two others. I have
yet to email them. Take a look and let me know how you feel about these:
Wendi Strang-Frost
and Arref Mak.

GM is back, but
the internet is not. Having problems reaching Excite. Will keep trying.
Yahoo had problems during the holidays I heard. Hope no one gave up
on this log after being bounced 50 or so times.
Have managed to coalesce most of the gmlogs. Will add back info from
archived email as found and typed. Will use this forum for messaging
again except for posts.
Until artist found have experimented with my own material. Check out
Cygnus's page. Do you see what I see? If
you have a picture similiar to the character in your mind's eye, let
me know. I can mangle it for show and tell.

I have no hope of
ever keeping to a schedule again, it seems. Will just send turns back
as you send them and time allows. With four current players, should
be the best way to go.
On that note, however, we have space for a new character or two. Anyone
have a friend interested in creating a cousin for the Royals??

Been doing a bit
of horsing around. If you click our logo on the o2ranger
home page, you will find a new frameset navigation for Scion. Hope
this helps.
Also added some info on the Family's prize bloodline, the
Isle horses. Can you "see" your four-legged friend in this description?

Things have been
hectic at work. Taking this week off. Will be back next week.
Last week I added a Human Click (like the one above) to the site. A
couple of pages only as an experiment, but will eventually be on all
unless Yahoo! cries foul. Works with javascript through the web browser.
Like Yahoo!s version but a bit more customizable. If it says the GM
is online, give me a click.

Open Letter to
the Players:
We have officially ended our second year. I am taking this opportunity
to thank each and every one of you for your persistance and vision.
"Thank you, one and all!" What you can not see here is that my arms
are wide with a big, scrunchy hug. Please stand in line ....
Arafel:
It is a Joy
to watch you bring Caitlin to life. Her strength and wisdom should keep
her ahead of the game.
WANKA: Magnus is one of a kind. Understanding
of his past will help to mold his future stance in this family, be it
humble or bold.
Gerry: Riddyl is the lonely, stuckup, impetuous
teen that truly deserves keeping his new position of power. Really.
;)
Lseyer: As a 'newbie' to role-playing in general,
and Amber in particular, you are doing well. Seyer is a woman of deep
emotion and thoughtful action.
Razz_putin:
I miss the
sheer chutzpah and hands-on problem-solving that your Cygnus added to
our group. Both of you are welcome back at any time.
La_choutte: Myste's presence is also sorely
missed. The Castle is beginning to fall down around the Family's ears
without her energy and focus. Come back soon, please!
Casperinc: Simeon's departure was, like your
own, for reasons of honor and duty. Here's hoping that you both return
whole and hale.
Thanks also to the
NPC players:
Jtkidd: Dworken is a maniac. The 'Riddyl pig'
episode had me laughing for days. As a GM Asst. you are over the top!
GF_Yuna: Thanks for the detailing on Erika
and Ember's background. Your story style was like finding the missing
piece of a puzzle. Please come back when you can and say hello.
There are also two other persons, in the first year of our plotting,
that helped to add muscle and meat to skin and bone; Phillip with the
Count, and Dean_ami with the Mayor. Mucho gracias senors.
In this new year, I commit
myself to two things as GM. (1) To continue to post as much as real life
permits. (2) To pay up on the goodies your play and characters have earned!
During this month (and probably some of the next) I am going back over
the story, the gossip, the accomplishments of each character, the player
contributions, and adding up the points earned. Please have a list of
items that you wish to purchase ready by October 1st. As soon as your
notified of total stats (via file share of course, I love that thing!)
let me have it. Gently please.

Having too much

rates this should be a very welcome respite for all of us.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
