Cotswolds, Blenheim and Oxford, England
(part 2 of 8)
We managed to see The Cotswolds, Bleheim Palace and Oxford all in one day.  The Cotswolds are a picturesque area of rolling countyside and quaint English villages.  There are stone walls, stone buildings and walking paths everywhere.  We managed a short hike before finding a pub for lunch.
Blenheim was a nice surprise.  It was the home of the 11th century Duke of Marlborough as well as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.  This large estate lies just outside Oxford. One wing is still the private residence of the current Duke. There were even a few kid oriented areas on the grounds including a very short train ride.

OXFORD
Oxford University had a beautiful campus.  The city of Oxford, however, was quite a mess, apparently after some sort of celebration. It didn't help that we were all ready for dinner when we arrived in the city.  We ate like students at a local "noodle bar" that  quickly improved our impressions.  We covered a lot of miles this day, though not as many as you might expect as the scenic, narrow country roads of the Cotswolds had to be covered relatively slowly.
