Bath, Avebury, London & Longleat (part 3 of 8)
Bath is famous for many things, the biggest being the ancient Roman baths which even the kids found interesting. We found the locals to be quite helpful and friendly.
On the way back from Bath to Reading we drove by the town of Avebury that has a ring of prehistoric stones surrounding it and the nearby prehistoric manmade Silbury Hill. Not much is known about these structures or the people who erected them.

One day Karen and the kids went to London. Below left is Kensington Palace and on the right is the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain where the kids were able to cool off a bit on a record-breaking hot day. The destination for the day was the National Science museum.

On another day when Ralph was working, Karen and the kids went to Longleat which is an estate that has been turned into an animal park. You are able to drive your car right through areas with wild aninmals such as lions. In one section you could feed the deer out of your car. There were lots of things to see and do including a train, a maze, a playground, and the Longleat House, which was built in 1568. This was probably the favorite day of the trip for the kids.

This picture was taken from our car (windows up)- and we don't have a massive zoom lens. The animals were just that close!
