Political prisoner and nursing mother Zenaida Llesis is on her second day of hunger strike. Arrested on 5 August 2002 while eleven weeks pregnant, Zenaida suffered physical and psychological torture at the hands of her captors. Ten months ago, she gave birth to a baby girl, Gabriela, who urgently needs special medical treatment, having been born with a hole in her heart and a tumor in her liver.

We urge you to send letters, emails, or fax messages:

1. supporting Zenaida Llesis' hunger strike;
2. calling for the immediate medical treatment of baby Gabriela, that she be brought to a Manila-based hospital together with Zenaida who breastfeeds her;
3. demanding the release of political prisoner Zenaida Llesis and her baby Gabriela on the basis of humanitarian grounds.
