These are mostly 'game birds' and provide food for man.  The fly, but not for long distances.  They eat fruit, grain, seeds, insects and mostly have their nests on the ground.  All these have been seen by me in Zuarinagar, and they would inhabit any wooded area.

The Red Spurfowl is often called the chhoti jungli murghi in Hindi. It is a bit smaller than  a village hen. They are a rufous brown, and have a bright red patch around the eye.  Their favourite places are ruins overgrown with jungle, and they scratch among the dry grass and leaves for food.

The Jungle Bush Quail is present all over the subcontinent. It is about 15cm - 20 cm. It lives in a 'covey' of 5 - 20m birds.  These move along the ground and suddenly fly away to low branches when they arestartled.  They are brown above and streaked, and they have a white chest which has black lines.  They   nest from August to April.

The Common Peafowl is our Peacock, the National Bird.
