- Criminal Law - If you have a criminal law problem with either the police or the Federal Government there are two things you must keep in mind. First, the police can and will lie to you when they question you. There is no requirement that they either tell the truth or keep their word. If they tell you they will, or will not, do something unless you talk to them they don't have to follow through. The Police and Federal Agents are not there to help you, they are there to put someone in jail. You are as good a suspect as anyone in their mind. During questioning the police want you to make mistakes or make inconsistent statements so they can further break you down and get you so scarred and anxious that you will do anything to get out of there. Second, you have the right to not say anything to the police, or their agents, without your attorney present. Talking to the police without an attorney to make yourself look good to the police will, in most cases, not work. The police don't want you to have an attorney because they know that an attorney will protect your rights. Never talk to the police without your attorney present. At The Law Firm of Kallis & Assoc. the lawyers who do our criminal defense work have experience as either police officers (Deputy Sheriff and Undercover Narcotics Officer for the State Police) or have been prosecutors. They know how the police and federal agents work, and how to best protect your interests. One of our biggest jobs for you is to see to it that you get the best deal that can be gotten from the prosecutor. We then take a look at the deal, the evidence and the likelihood of success at trial and determine the best course of action. The decision is yours to make. If it looks like the best strategy is to go to trial, we are ready willing and able to do so. The following web site gives information on state and federal laws
and codes: http://www.FindLaw.com/casecode/. PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR LEGAL PROBLEM AND ONE OF OUR ATTORNEYS WILL CONTACT YOU BY EITHER E-MAIL, OR TELEPHONE, WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS FOR A FREE CONSULTATION.
